I think you are correct. Larger circumference tires will travel further for each revolution.

245/75/17 Circumference = 98.863 inches

285/70/17 Circumference = 102.758 inches

If your odo is calibrated for the 245/75/17 size

then miles traveled actual should = 102.758/98.863 x miles indicated on the odo = about 1.04 x miles indicated.

If you increase the tire size, the odometer will read LESS miles than what you've really gone.

Your speedometer will read LESS than the speed you are actually traveling.

Best at chess explained it pretty well.

If you set your Trip meter and you go 100 miles. You take 100 x 1.04 and get 104 miles. 200=208, 300=312, etc...

Same thing for speedo; 60mph x 1.04= 62.4 70mph=72.8

Your speedo/odo aren't that far off though. The number I use for my truck with 35's is 1.10. If you consider that I've driven approximately 20k with my large tires, thats 20,000 x 1.10= 22000 miles. That means I've gone 2000 miles more than the odometer indicates!!

Sweet thanks for the info. I think my truck is working the opposite way, it seems to rack up miles faster than the stock tires.

Should I let the battery disconnect over night? Or would that even do anything?

Thanks again

That is impossible...disconnecting the battery won't help you at all. You're truck can not work the opposite way. :bang:
