***UPDATE 8/31/12***
***All Parts SPOKEN For - Payment Pending on 7/11 Members***
***For STOCK or STILLEN Sway Bars***

Update 8/31/12: Manufacturer will be delivering 26 pieces (13 pairs) AS LONG AS he doesn't scrap any. At this point, I have 11 members lined up to buy, as well as a pair for my wife's Pathy and my Titan. As of today, all spots are filled.

NOTE: I will continue to take names on a list, and if there is enough interest (i.e. another batch of 5 or 10 members) then I will contact the manufacturer to produce more. After receiving the initial batch, I will test the fit on the other Nissan models, and hopefully market these on their respective forums as well. If we can get a few members from different forums, the quantity for a second batch should grow quickly.

Update 8/30/12: Fitment and testing will need to be confirmed, but I believe this sway bar mount will work for the Titan, Armada, Pathfinder, Xterra AND Frontier :redblob"

This will work as a STOCK REPLACEMENT using the OEM sway bar, OR the Stillen (or other 35mm) AFTERMARKET sway bar!!! Tell me if you are running the stock or an aftermarket sway bar so I can supply the correct bushing with your order. Designed to reuse the OEM hardware.

For $185 SHIPPED you get:
(2x) Custom 6061 billet aluminum sway bar bushing mounts (powdercoated clear/color of choice)
(2x) 34mm OR 35mm Greasable polyurethane bushings
(2x) Zerk fittings for greasing bushings

These will eliminate the weak stock stamped brackets, and the soft rubber bushings or the improperly fitting Prothane bushings (undersized for aftermarket sway bars), plus add a little custom look to the underside of your Titan! Just need three more people to commit, and I will order the brackets from the supplier. This is a great price for a custom piece.

Did a little more accurate modeling taking into consideration hole tolerance, slot tolerance, socket clearance and overall length and width of bracket on the Titan. Modeled up a poly greasable bushing and some metric hardware too. A couple sources lined up, yet I don't have quotes yet. I can get them printed in 3D from shapeways for $40/pc. :)

I might be interested in these in the future, if they come with the bushings too.

#5 ·
Once I get the first pair made I'll see whether it's economical or not. UMI sells the kit for $90, Hotchkis sells a similar kit for $150 but for one-off parts in very small quantity it will probably be expensive...

Put me on the list, I have the Stillen now with the Prothanes and didn't like the fit either. I am in, guaranteed.

#7 ·
Sounds good. Once my bushings come in I can finalize the design, finish the print and send it out to a few places to get quoted.

Thanks for the support!

Bushings will be in tomorrow. I sent my 3D model for preliminary quoting and should have an accurate quote by tomorrow afternoon too.

If it all goes well I should have them cut out and in my hands by the end of next week.

So far I have gotten the price down to $180/ea for 1, or if I order 6 total (3 sets) they are about $150/ea. A whole kit with two brackets, bushings and hardware would be around $350.

I'm going to try to get quotes from a few other places. My goal was to sell them for about half of that or less...but that isn't looking great for such small quantities.

Now entertaining the idea of modifying UMI PN#0048 by increasing dimension 0.42" to 0.546875" for clearance, and using a SS socket cap bolt. This route would be much more cost efficient.

I finally found time to update my model to the bushings I ordered. Ordered one to be printed from Shapeways, it will be here in a couple weeks.

Once I get that, I will check fitment with the bushing and truck, update if necessary and take it and prints to a few local machine shops.

***UPDATE***

Got a decent quote back, and I'm looking for FIVE interested buyers.

The price, shipped within the US, with greaseable polyurethane bushings (correct size) installed would be $225.

The $225 is for me to break even by paying for my set, I'm not looking for any profit on these. If 10 people were interested, the price would be cut even further (ballpark would be $180-200 shipped with bushings).

These are for those of us who have installed a Stillen front sway bar and want the proper replacement bushing. If someone can contact me with an accurate measurement of a Helwig front sway bar I can verify whether this would work for those too.

I can also look into getting a better replacement bushing for the stock sway bar using these mounts!

Who is interested? I only need 5 commitments at $225 shipped with bushings!

I am working on a design now that will mount in the stock location, and have the bushing portion offset ~.344" to make up the difference and rest against the sway bar stops.
Outstanding, sounds like that will work. If you do that, you can count me in.

#26 ·
I appreciate the kind words! I'll work on updating the design this weekend.

Updated my design tonight, it ended up needing a nice round .250" offset. The model has been sent for another quote from yet another vendor, and I have ordered a new 3D printed model (like the one above). Just thought I'd share, in case anyone comes across this thread...

Hey guys, the design is updated to an offset bracket and I was able to get the price down even further with another supplier!

For $185 SHIPPED you get:
(2x) Custom 6061 billet aluminum sway bar bushing mounts
(2x) 35mm Greasable polyurethane bushings

These will eliminate the weak stock stamped brackets, and the soft rubber bushings or the improperly fitting Prothane bushings (undersized for aftermarket sway bars), plus add a little custom look to the underside of your Titan! Just need three more people to commit, and I will order the brackets from the supplier! This is a great price for a custom piece.

If I can't get a couple more people interested this isn't going to work out, or the price will climb by producing fewer parts....

Two more people is all I need!

Really hope this works out, just not happy with how the prothanes are on my Stillen bar, and that bar made a world of difference in how the front of the truck flattened out in the corners, come on two more and we can roll with this.

If you have a Stillen sway bar and Prothane bushings, and I know there are alot of you, this is probably what your bushings look like.....not good. Look at the gap in the aft side of the bushing. Would not be suprised if there is metal on metal. Its a no brainer that this needs to be fixed. :bangit:

#42 ·
Thanks for posting that up, I had been meaning to. In my opinion, this is rendering the sway bar almost useless by not having contact on nearly 3 sides due to the expansion of the bushing...

I'd love to see two more people hop on board so I can get this project moving...

#43 ·
I'd like to see this rolling along as well, don't know why no one else is interested??

I still have the stock sway bar.
But you got me interested. Who sells the away bar itself?

Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app

The front sway bar that we all have except for those that have the stock one is from Stillen, it is a larger bar, and we are mostly using Prothane bushings on it, but the Stillen bar is larger than stock, so the bushing does not fit correctly in the stock mounts because the ID of the bushing is too small. Plus it meets in the back which is where the split in the bushing is, and I hear mine rattle once in a while from that, the pic will show what happens earlier in the thread.

Nice, I hadn't looked into it when I bought mine.

I wonder if it is hollow/solid and what diameter...
