Well I am pissed, I pulled off the front wheels and tires today and looked at the brakes. The pads were gone after 15000 miles. Nissan has a huge problem with the 04-05 brakes and I have already had the update to the brake fix due to Brake Judder. But those have now worn completely out.

So that means the replacement brakes suck too.

Lucky for me at our last Titan gathering I won a full set of 06 brakes (calipers, pads and rotors) So I jacked up the Titan and went to town replacing my 04 brakes with 06 brakes. I must say the 06 calipers and rotors are HUGE compared to the 04 parts. So I bled the brakes with the help of my girlfriend. I then went to put the wheels and tires back on and that is when the fun began.

06 Titans dont have 17" wheels and now I know why..............They dont fit! So I couldnt clear the calipers. But I couldnt put back the originals as the pads were completely gone. So now I am calling every parts store in Detroit looking for pads and rotors for an 04 Titan. I finally find the only set in town at Auto Zone and run 30 miles away to get them. I bring them home and now have to pull the 06 calipers and rotors back off. Good Times!!!!

I go to pull the rotors out from Autozone and lucky me Murphy's law is in full effect! The new rotors are like my original 04's with the lopsided rotor thickness (inside is thinner than the outside) So I now have a set of original 04 brakes that are bound to have Brake Judder in 7000 miles.

Oh well what do you do on a Sunday. Just break the Titan down again for another brake fix.

MY LIFE SUCKS!

06 trucks came with both 17 and 18 inch wheels. 4x2 and 4x4 without the OR package came with the 18" wheels. The OR package came with the 17" wheels.

Can't imagine the problem, unless there were two different brake packages for the different sized wheels? :dunno:
im guessing you mean 08 rotors?? im pretty sure that 06's still fit 17's on the offroad package. Sucks about the problems, i hate doing something only to find out your missing a part or something doesnt work!
The brakes came from the Nissan Tech Center guys at our last outing. They claimed that they were all 2006 parts. So I just assumed everything would bolt right on and it did.

Well all except for my wheels. I am not sure if the 06 17" wheels are exactly the same as the 04-05's or if they changed the inside of the wheel to work with the new calipers. There is a significant interferance between the wheel and caliper, I cant even get the lug nuts to line up. Its about 15mm of hard contact. MAJOR BUMMER FOR ME.

I will have to save up for some custom 18" wheels and a new set of tires so I can enjoy the larger brakes. Its amazing how much of a difference there is. Oh also while changing calipers out I put the RF caliper on my upper A arm while I put on the 06 caliper, when I was working on the 06 caliper, the 04 caliper decided to jump from the A arm and wack me clean in the right cheek. I look like I have been abused by my Girlfriend. I will just chalk it up to wild sex, if anybody asks.

When they say '06, they are talking about the '06 Armada front brake package, which was a bridge fix to the '08 remake. It has the larger rotors and calipers, but still properly fits the pre-'08 wheel hubs. If Armada's ever had 17's, then I'm guessing they didn't after '05.
