The brakes on my 04 for no apparent reason feel like **** and make a very loud creaking sound in the cab. When I apply the brakes it feels like I am using the E-brake instead of the regular brake and it is very very touchy and squishy.. also the BRAKE light is on

update after parking in the garage with the parking brake on for 5 minutes I turned my truck back on and the brake light on the dash went away and I have full use of my brakes. I will try again in 5 minutes.

was it still squishy? might want to check your fluid level

fluid levels are fine as well as the brakes...
no signs of leaks either
maybe just an air bubble in the line?

it could be, i would bleed em and see if it makes a difference

just out of curiosity... Did you have the E brake on by any chance? Thats what it sounds like to me, might have been on either fully or partial. Glad it fixed itself.

no e brake I checked. I pulled over and engaged it then disengaged it to make the light turn off and it did not work. it has fixed itself so far I filled up the brake fluid which was above half so I guess we will see if its gone..
