BullRing Retractable Tie Down Anchors - Applications w/o UTILI-TRAC

JUST AN FYI -

I inquired to BullRing about an application for my '17 Titan. They didn't have any at the time so they sent me samples to try. I just wanted to pass this useful info onto you guys. The only one that seems to work is the version with lower stainless brackets on 3 of 4 sides. The only one left off on 4th side will always face the bed. See pics for details. Overall looks and functions great. The disclaimer is you have to tap it with a hammer carefully in order for it to drop into place as its a VERY tight fit. Once its in you will not be able to remove without damaging your bed cap so please keep that in mind. I wish I had the part number for this as it doesn't say on actual part. I'm thinking its 9014 but I would call BullRing to confirm.

Re: BullRing Retractable Tie Down Anchors - '17 Titan

Looks good
thanks man. yeah I love them so far as mine doesn't have utili-trac and the only tie downs that come factory are towards the bed floor hard to get to when having a full load. Glad I went with flush tonneau cover as any other style wouldn't allow for bull-rings.

Just spoke to Steve at Bullring about my 2019 Titan. Ended up ordering part # 9074. He said #5070 and #9064 will work for the Titan. They are manufactured for the Tundra, but will work. For install, he recommended lining the area of the bedcap with duct tape before starting to prevent scratching the bedcap plastic. Apparently our bedcaps are a bit thicker which makes the hole in the metal underneath sit lower from the surface. So it is difficult to get it positioned without rubbing and scratching the bed cap. So they don't have an official Titan application for sale on the website.

Steve also recommended drilling a hole in the center of the square where the Bullring will go and then cutting lines toward the four corners. This will ensure you hit the metal corner underneath and don't cut the hole too wide. Use a heat gun or hairdryer to heat the plastic up first to make cutting easier. When you have made your 4 diagonal cuts from the center, you can cut the edges off. Or, Bullring does supply a router bit with some sets. He also said not to over-tighten the screws so that the metal base does not indent. If it is snug, you are all set.

Very impressed with the customer service already from Bullring. My set is on the way, and I will post an update and pictures when I have installed the set of 4.
