Been chatting with nightowl about ordering some products from him I already just asked him this but wanted some more opinions till he answers back. Anyways so far I have s&b intake and plan on headers but won't be for a year or so probably. looking at getting Cajun b pipes and Cajun catback with a borla 40944
Main question is 2.25 or 2.5 b pipes. If I get the 2.5s will I lose low end and will the 2.25s be much difference

From everything I've read/been told, Ts like 2.5. Headers, to 2.5 with a solid scavenging y pipe, straight in to a 3 single exit is supposedly the sweet spot for the VK56.

I'm running the 2.25 with my JBA 3" exhaust, I will do headers eventually, but right now running 2.25 off the OEM manifold, there isn't a big enough difference. I would say if you are for sure going to replace the manifolds soon, do the 2.5", especially if you are doing the catback exhaust now. If not, do the 2.25 and do the upgrade to 2.5 when the time comes, chances are you will be able to sell the used 2.25 pretty easily, for a slight loss depending on how long they are on.

Are the 2.25 going to make much difference with the Cajun catback vs the 2.5 though. I want to do headers but I'm thinking it probably wouldnt be till I needed them replaced. So if the 2.25 will be the best choice to go with stock manifolds

OEM exhaust is 2.25, so leaving the bpipes at 2.25 is not going to hurt one bit because your still opening up the exhaust post bpipes with the cajun exhaust going into the y it will be 2.5 then out after the y to 3", exactly what the JBA exhaust is that I am running. Are you tuned??

either way, the cajun bpipes are less restrictive than the OEM ones, regardless of which bpipe you go with, catless or catted, so even a catted Cajun bpipe in 2.25 is less restrictive than the OEM 2.25.

I'm not tuned. And dont have inspections etc. So was wanting reso b pipes or catless. I'm not tuned. Only performance mod I have is s&b intake

Mine are catless, so like I say even at a 2.25 the cajuns are still less restrictive than OEMs.

Ha-ha yeah my stock exhaust is a little tame. I don't want it to to loud that's why I was thinking resonated b pipes but I don't think he does them in 2.25

Honestly if you are a vvt truck which I think you are go 2.5 for sure.
I had catless before an if your going to do headers I would definitely go with the resonated pipes, it tamed my exhaust some compared to my last truck.

Going from 2.25 to 2.5'' B pipes (both cajun) there is a 8-10rwhp difference. Stock piping is 2'' diameter.

The most common header to use is the JBA for performance and price. These have 2.5'' collectors. So its only logical to stay 2.5'' from header back to the Y pipe section.

The headers cracking are inevitable, so I would recommend just spending money once and correctly the first time around by going with 2.5''. You can get them catless, catted and with resonators.

If you're going to do it all in stages, still go with the 2.5'' setup. You can work from the header back, or start with B pipes, or start with Cajun Y pipe. That is the beauty of Cajun kits, they are all bolt on and allow for installation in stages.

Not trying to deter you from spending your own money, however its much easier just to go with 2.5'' from the start.

The S&B,Volant, AEM, Nismo, Stillen, K&N etc intakes are all 3'' diameter tube designs.

The airaid MXP was designed based off the 4'' custom cold air intakes built many moons ago for the titan and showed 15rwhp or more and 20rwtq or so over 3'' intakes in different parts of the power band, mostly low end which is where its needed in our trucks.

The MXP is around 5'' in diameter at its largest internally, then tapering down to around 3.87 to 4'' before entering throttle body. The inside of the MXP has a reducer to house the MAF meter in order to retain correct MAF scale readings for the ECU to use.

Don't ever cut that reducer out lol, your truck will not run and you wasted an intake.

I will make a new thread showing comparative photos of the aforementioned intakes.
