Coachmen Freedom Express 310 BHDS Tucker Georgia | 2011 Travel Trailer, Peco Campers - RV Sales - Metro Atlanta, GA

Here is a link to what we may be getting. I have an 05 KC with the BT package. May be going to an 08 Pro4x longbed, I hope. I think it will do fine. Should be around 8000-8500# when loaded with all the camping gear. Towing 7000# now with no problem now. Just want some input.

Nice trailer!

Specs on it are 7350# dry with a cargo capacity of 1775#. So potentially, you could be hauling 9125# around. A tad much for the Titan IMHO. My Jayco scales at 8000# loaded with 910# tongue, and I would not want to go much more than that.

If you load light and take it easy, you should be ok. Mileage will definately suck, but heck, that's the price we pay for RV'ing! :)

I haven't yet towed a travel trailer with my Titan, but I bought it for that purpose and have been doing a lot of research.

I think you would be a little heavier than you want, and 35.5 feet long is awfully long for our wheelbase. If you had the long wheelbase Titan that became available in 2008 the trailer length might not be such an issue.

If you read the "what are you towing" thread you will see numerous folks who towed a trailer your size, or even a little less, and they now have 3/4 or full ton pickup trucks in their signature after selling the Titan.

I am aiming for 6500 dry weight and 33 feet long, which is still high, but I don't plan on loading much on it.

I think the key thing is you are towing with yours now, a pretty heavy load, so it's your call if you want to bump up a bit. You know how it handles, the gas mileage, etc - if you were brand new to it I would say don't do it without some practice hauling.
I wouldn't.... I was looking at the Jayco JayFlight 32BHDS when I was shopping around, it appears to be about the same as that Coachmen, and there was no way I would want to tow that heavy thing around with a 1/2-ton of any kind...

Checkout the Jay Feather 29L ... It's very similar but also easily towed with a 1/2-ton:

if youre gonna be getting a new truck anyways, save yourself the hastle and get a 3/4 ton. that trailer looks massive and i dont know how safe towing it with a titan would be..
If you tow that kind of weight regularily and want to do it right, you should be looking for a 3/4 or one-ton diesel.
Thanks for all the input guys. I think we are going to stick with our old 2010 Freedom Express.LOL @ Pops my 291QBS that I have now is the same as that Jayco that you have listed. The wife really likes the bunk house slide out on the newer one in the OP. I have to have my outdoor kitchen like the one I have now. Its a real spoiler once you get used to it. All snacks and adult beverages are right at your fingertips. Here is what I have now. http://www.camplandrv.com/clw_rvinventory/view.jsp?rvid=1398464#

Wanna trade?? I would just keep it until you're ready for a bigger truck if I were you.... That is one of the largest bunkhouse floorplans I've been able to find that's still under 8,000-lbs....
Yea, I'm just gonna keep mine for a while. The wife just got the fever when we were on the lot. Thanks for all the input guys.
My current favorite bunkhouse model that is Titan towable is the Rockwood 8306SS

Well, there you go - someone towing an 8000 pound (unloaded?) trailer with a Titan. It's always good to see real world experiences.

You just might want to make sure you also use an Equal-i-zer hitch and Prodigy Controller.
might be a dumb question....can you haul these toys with a 2wd?

With Big Tow, absolutely!

That's loaded and ready to go... Alot of people who got up closer to the 8500-lbs range ended up trading in their Titan for a bigger truck.....

He edited it to clarify, it originally just said "(8000)" next to the factory unloaded weight.

Noob question again....If i have the big tow mirrors, do i have the big tow package?

Sorta. :)

I added the "Loaded ready for camping..." after the "scaled weight". Wanted people to know that it was truely loaded. My jayco actually has a weight card in the cabinet stating what it weighed when shipped. Can't remember the exact number. Not that much more that listed dry weight. Didn't inculde propane bottles, and battery, but it was as shipped with options.

Sorry for the misquote, El Equis! My bad.

More than likely, yes. There is some confusion among the 2011 crowd about option packaging? I'm sure a 2011 expert will chime in!

I thought Titan could handle 12,000lbs??? Or maybe that was the Payload...
