Can The Titan Handle A Plow?

33157 Views 36 Replies 30 Participants Last post by  jandjcarpentry
I live in New England and currently plow my business' parking lot with my Toyota T100 when it snows. I also have some small accounts and friends driveways that I plow. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Titan can be outfitted with a plow? I was told by one plow manufacturer (Pathfinder), that the new (2004) F150 was no good for plowing. I've also heard this about the Tundra. I understand it's something to do with the type of front suspension and I believe the Titan's is similar. I asked the Nissan salesman today if you could put a plow on the Titan and he said: "Sure you can", however, I got the feeling he wasn't sure so I called him on it and asked him if he was postitive and he back-peddled and said he would check with his service manager on Monday. Does anyone out there know for sure?

Thanks

Hi
I have a 97 T100 and am having a hard time finding a plow setup for it, do you have any suggestions? What do you use, does it work well?

Boy you can tell I don't live up north, I was picturing a titan in a field pulling a plow to make a garden.
IIRC Western makes a plow for the Titan. If you choose to have one installed go to a reputable truck place and have them equip the truck with airbags up front so the plow weight doesn't trash your front suspension. Also be sure to weight the bed to keep things level. Friend of mines brother plows a few driveways and their church parking lot with his 04 Titan and has had no issues in 3 going on 4 years. Not sure what plow he is using though.
I have a 05 Titan that I plow with. I put on a Sno Way which does a excellent job. No Problems at all since the Sno Way is a lightweight plow. It's has the plexiglass front.
Personal opinion- I wouldn't put a plow on the front of an IFS vehicle. Leafs or Coils are easy to bolster up with airbags- IFS not really.
I have a 2001 nissan xterra and i dont want to buy another plow truck and was wondering if i could put a plow on there pls reply back

This is not an xterra forum. Idk if anyone can help you here.
Personal opinion- I'm not sure if the xterra has the power for a plow or not.

Not sure where in NE you are but here are a couple. Maybe email them and ask how there trucks did with a plow.
I saw a Titan with a plow once in central IL. The blade itself was smaller than what you usually see on winter plow trucks. After all the money and time and wear on a vehicle equiping a Titan with a plow you're probably better off spending $1500 on an old truck that already has a plow equiped. I know in Wisconsin they're a dime a dozen.

me too! i thought, hmm, this guy's thinkin about plowin a field with his truck! I gotta read this thread.
There have been several Titan owners with plows- Not sure which plow or set-up they're using.
The local Nissan dealership has a Titan set-up for a plow....
you can always put some of these on and easily make it a plow vehicle. these are bad a$$

I was thinking the same thing! Dude, go buy a John Deer!:teethmast
I was just thinking of the plow video but HudsonValley beat me to it. Looks like the guy has no trouble pushing the snow. I have also heard that the IFS is not ideal for plowing. Get a beater Ford or Chevy and if it breaks you can still go to the parts store in your Titan.
it has nothing to do with IFS, truck wasnt made for the weight (GMs are IFS as well). while you can do it i wouldnt. plowing is more for 3/4 and 1 tons and bigger. the suspension is just a little more HD. that being said ive seen S10s with plows and while they work when the plow comes off the ground the bumper touches the ground :)
I think he meant a Chevy prior to 89 when they were still using SA.
