My Titan did not come with a spare key (it was purchased used). Today, I went in to a local dealership to have one created and programmed. My truck got taken back to the service area and I relaxed in the lounge, sipping coffee and watching Fox.

An hour and a half later, the service technician returned and said that the key could not be programmed. Hmm...

What's interesting is that I was able to successfully program a remote key just last month. The technician suggested that it could be a problem with the ECM and wants me to bring the truck in on another date so they could run some diagnostic tests on her.

Has anyone had a problem similar to this before? Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Thanks for the assist,

Brian

Yep, I presented the service rep with my key and remote.

After an hour and a half of waiting, the rep returned and stated that the ECM is not recognizing the new key and suspects that the ECM may have been tampered with.

Can ECM's be easily accessed by a *common* mechanic and messed with? Or is there some kind of safeguard that only a dealer can bypass?

If this has to be replaced.......*gulp*

Thanks for the help.
