Has anyone had to use the spare tire on second gen titan? I just can't lower the spare tire on mine. I'm using the T handle in the tool kit, trying to turn counter clockwise but it just won't budge.
FYI I am a licensed technician so I'm not a tool using a tool but I am worried I'll end up breaking something.

On the first gen Titan, that baby is a pain in the arse to get lined up right. Are you sure it isn't just not in there right and jammed up against the side?

The chain doubles up on itself after some time aging in place. I don't have an explanation, just an observation. Spray silicone up in the area through the wheel and hopefully some will find it's home. Work at the T bar counter and clockwise and sooner or later it will start to drop. I had to fish a bent rod up into the chain housing to break my chain loose enough to get it to drop. Once a year I drop the thing and grease the heck out of the chain, work it for awhile and then put it all back together hoping I never have to use it.

You are right. I brought a flash light outside to have a good look at it. Looks like it was getting jammed on the side of it and not centered on the shaft. Came down no problem when done properly. I guess I'm eating my words now.

Nope, no eating your words, I always have to use a flashlight too. Glad it all worked out in the end.

seems like everyone says flashlight to make sure you are in the right spot and junkyard for another handle?
I was definitely in the right spot but turns out (no pun intended) the chain was bound up where it drops through. I knew I shouldn't have been putting so much pressure on the rod. Oh well, bonehead mistake...the first of two I made last night. All I wanted to do was rotate my tires using the spare as a 'helper'. First time doing it on this truck and somehow managed to get one wheel loose only to realize it had aftermarket spline lugs...doh! Luckily a quick run to O'Reillys netted me a spline lugnut key. But hey at least all this crap happened at home so I am prepared next time if it was a flat tire scenario...
