Carvana?

Anyone use Carvana to buy a car/truck? I'm in middle of purchasing my second Titan, a 2012 SV 4x4 through them (first time using Carvana). Truck has 68K miles on it, looks to be in pretty good condition but will have it inspected at local shop that specializes in trucks while in their 7 day trial window. So far I like the ease of financing with them. I just recently got out of a bankruptcy and as able to finance with them for 8.6%. Everywhere else I was getting 15%+ rates. This is replacing a 2008 4X2 Titan (my first) that still runs great with low miles (95K) but I'm totally upside down on (even though the loan was discharged) and a 19% rate.

Only issue I have had with them, so far, is how long it has taken. I found the truck on their site in April, it was a "Coming soon" vehicle which meant it was likely just bought off Auction and had to be prepped for sale. But it took over a month, several calls and chats and wasn't until May 16 it became available for sale. The purchase process was easy, maybe an hour to go through all the online docs, upload some of my info etc. However then it couldn't be delivered until June 9th. Ok I can wait a little longer. However then on June 5, I get a text saying hey had an issue and had to reschedule the delivery until 6/29. After calling several times I finally got a rep to agree to look into it and was able to get it rescheduled for 6/19, this Saturday.

I'll update this after the delivery on how it went. Just curious if any others have used them to buy their titan or another car/truck and your experience.

I have not bought anything through them but I have sold a vehicle to them. Definitely do what you said and have someone very knowledgeable check the vehicle thoroughly because Carvana surely does not when they purchase inventory. When they purchased my vehicle they showed up handed me a check and asked for the keys started the vehicle and hooked a tow truck up to it. I know there is a refurbishing process the vehicles go through etc but there are plenty of reviews online of vehicles being delivered with the check engine light already on or issues popping up shortly after delivery. If anything at all is out of sorts return that thing during the trial period. They will take it back no questions asked.

Good luck and please keep us posted. I'm interested to learn how your experience with them works out.
Be careful with that outfit! One of my co-workers crushed a deer. Had the vehicle fixed and the insurance company did the bare minimum repairs. After a few months there were problems with the vehicle. Since there was no police report that vehicle had a good Carfax. He was Leary of dumping it on a dealership so he sold it to Carvana. They do all that stuff online and basically look at the Carfax.
Never bought from them but Im considering selling to them. Theyre offering top dollar right now
No personal experience, but some friends seemed satisfied.
Selling a vehicle to them wouldn't be bad if their giving you what you want for your ride. I'd be leary of making a major purchase all on line and then having it delivered to you without seeing it in person. But hey that's just me, everyone is different.......
I think they have a 100 day window for a return. Beware the fine print though. Neighbor had a Ford Exploder delivered last weekend.
They didn't go over that co-workers truck I talked about with a fine toothed comb. A blind man could see the body lines were screwed up and misaligned.....
Several neighbors have bought and sold through Carvana and they've had 10/10 experiences. Everyone has loved their new cars and for those that sold, it was a great experience. Good luck.

Ah, "Shabby Chic" package.
I've heard positive things from everyone I knew that bought from them. That APR does seem rather high, which would scare me. Given your situation, I'd look for the cheapest vehicle I could find and build up my credit so that I can buy what I really want. 8.6% APR on a $20,000 loan is about $5,000, just for reference. I've also heard good things about Vroom, and Carmax, even though Carmax is pretty firm on their prices, which seem a little high. Good luck.
Update: Truck was delivered this morning on time. The delivery person was very pleasant and went over all the details with me of what comes next including the 7 day trial period. He even ordered new floor mats as the ones that were supposed to come with the truck were missing. He got me the all weather versions. I took it for a quick spin and so far everything seems tight.
As mentioned in my first post, I am taking it in for a purchase inspection on Monday. I did notice the a/c was not blowing as cold as my other truck so that's a concern I will want looked at.

I did notice on the Carfax it was from MD and I do notice corrosion likely from salt on the undercarriage, mostly the rear shocks and the muffler and also some in the engine compartment. Hoping that's not an issue, didn't see anything rust-wise on the body panels but I am concerned about electrical connections . The detailing was not as detailed as I would expect, lots of missed dirt on the exterior and although the main parts of the cabin were cleaned (way too much Armor all, as usual) there was some grime in the console well and what appeared to be some spilled soda in the cup holder when I removed it. I'm probably picking nits as my other girl (an '08 XE 4x2) was desperately needing a thorough cleaning.

Going to spend more time going over it tomorrow as today was mostly a get **** done day around the house...

Cant get pics off my phone at the moment but will post some tomorrow.

Well, here she is in all her glory. Hoping inspection tomorrow doesn't turn up any major issues but supposedly they generally pay for fix vs having it returned.

When I am uploading pics to the thread, I log into the site with my phone and just upload them here. Makes it easier than transferring from my phone to my PC. This of course is on an Android device. I think TitanTalk also has an android app which makes it easier.

Truck looks pretty clean. Hopefully the rust isn't too bad.
I use Tapatalk app on my Android. It's really easy to reply and upload pics.

Update: After driving the truck this weekend a few issues popped up; brakes were spongy and with a slight pulse, AC barely blew cold. Inspection with a mechanic today confirmed the front rotors were warped and needed replacement, the AC was leaking and needed a new O ring /seal and recharge. Additionally the inside of the tires (all 4) were worn to the point of needing replacement. After spending a few hours (mostly on hold), I was able to get the warranty company they use for the initial 100day warranty (SilverRock) to pay for everything plus 4 new tires ( Coopers/HT which I will eventually swap for some ATs at some point anyway).

So all of this pretty much confirms that Carvanas so-called 150 point check is bogus marketing spin and the reason you MUST get an inspection done before the 7day return period is up. It also took several calls to get Silverrock (warranty company) and my mechanic connected. I ended up having to do a 3 way call because the hold times were horrible...the rep at SilverRock mentioned due to a software update or something and not typical (ok...will see) . That said they did agree to pay for everything and waive the $50 deductible for not using a shop in their provider network (I was insistent they either waive or have Carvana pay).

The mechanic made the comment about the tires that it was not noticeable unless you got under the truck or had it on a lift. So again, not likely they did much other than the basics; oil change, fluid top, a few cosmetic details. I think they replaced the tailgate piece with the latch and badge as that plastic looked brand new. They also threw in a bed liner but didn't secure it at the tie down points...I could lift the liner up and see the original bed was pretty scraped up , probably never had a liner. No rust in the bed though so that's good.

Aside from that, all other items checked out so far and I will probably keep it after the 7 day mark, because it is a dammed nice looking truck! I'll likely get to work at some point with all the usual stuff, new shocks, level kit, and replace the manifold but I may have some time for that.

It's an interesting thing to do the whole deal online. Worth it vs going to a dealer? Pro's and cons to both I guess. I did like the fully online thing, even though it took a while and they definitely have some issues with their procurement/processing and fulfillment. Either caused by a backlog/glut of inventory or just growing faster than they can logistically handle at the moment.

The next hurdle I have seen issues for others is the registration process and getting plates. I'll update if anything happens.

Entered my 2020 pro4x for fun and came back with $51,250… insanity. They don’t work with Nissan Finance though, only Vroom does
Glad it all seems to be working out. I’d have zero issues selling to an online company, however buying from one isn’t something I could do. I’d rather look at and inspect and test drive prior to committing to.

Having said that, it seems they are doing right by you so far…. That’s respectable and earns them some points.
