My center console lights just up and quit on me. I didn't really notice when it happened because it's only started to get dark earlier up here. The lights that aren't working are the stereo nobs and buttons, the HVAC system and the gears. The stereo display still works as does the light stating that the passenger airbag has been disabled. Other than that it's pretty dark and hard to operate at night. Help?

::UPDATE::
I've found the problem thanks to the guys who posted below. It was the 10amp fuse labeled "Illumination". See pictures with faulty fuse circled in red.

Work the dimmer knob up and down :redblob" a couple times and see if that fixes it.

Yes, I did that...but what's really strange is that the dimmer knob isn't doing it's job either. My dash lights (everything behind the steering wheel) are lit up to an acceptable brightness but working the dimmer knob doesn't affect it one bit. I'm wondering if it might be a fuse issue?

The fuse is behind the battery in the second black box - it is a tight fit, as for which one it is exactly, Im waiting on that answer myself, ut if you want to go in there and start pulling until you find it, please let me know which one it is. I can tell you that it is a 10 amp fuse, that should narrow it down some.

BTW - Did you notice if your running lights and lic plate lamp also stopped working?

Thanks Steve!
No, I didn't notice any running light or lic plate problem. I'll check on that too.

By any chance did you do the foglight mod where you solder the wire to one of the fuses??? I had the exact problem with the dash lights and it turns out that the wire for the foglight mod shorted out. I replaced with new fuses and my dash lights work again as well as the little controller to dim them down.

I didn't do the foglight mod but I did add a trailer brake at the end of summer. Possibly that's related.
I still haven't had a chance to chec my fuses yet. Tonight I plan on doing it.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to send out a huge THANK YOU for posting about this issue & the responses. I had a very similar issue with my instrument panel cluster lighting going out recently. After I checked the Illumination 10amp fuse behind the battery, it was sure enough blown! So, replaced that and all is well. Interestingly enough this also fixed my issue with the aftermarket fog lights not working either. Seems that when the previous owner installed the fog lights on my XE CC model, they just wire pinched onto a 12v hot wire that was part of the Illumination circuitry(this was for the switch only. the actual power came from a direct connection to the battery with an inline fuse installed).
So, just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate your help with these posts. I've already figured out a lot with my '04 Titan (owned for 2+ years now) just from reading posts from this site (as well as the "other" titan site... who's name shall not be mentioned).
