I just checked under my new truck. Nissan decided to cheap out on us and give us a full size spare....on a cheap steel wheel! WTF?! $40,000 for a new truck and I get a steelie? My 04 SE had a full size spare on a 5th alloy wheel! :futwice:

I have alloy too. Whew, I will sleep better now.

I wonder if Pro-4X has steel because rim is wider to accomodate 285 tires? Also, steel is strong like bull.
All Titan wheels are the same width. In fact, other than the 20s on the LE, all the 08 wheels are the same size 18" wheel. I think maybe I'll check with my dealer.
Now I have to go check...

Steel spare wheel.

I've never seen a new truck with an aluminum spare. I don't think I would want an aluminum spare.
Well.... My '05 has an Alloy spare...

My '08 has a Steel spare....

What the hell over?
The spare tire guy at the factory must be flipping a coin.
Dang! Steel on my 08 Pro4x CC!!!
08.5 pro x also has steel wheel,i better make sure it has a lug wrench.lol
Anyone go back to the dealer and ask WTF?

I would love to hear some of the creative answers they come up with.

All nissan's web site states is "full size spare tire." Guess they wanted to give one of the assembler's some creative freedom in assembly of our trucks.

I doubt you would get anywhere in that conversation since the dealers arent the ones who put the spare tire on the truck.
Maybe some Dealers are stealing or taking off the Alloy Spares and switching them with Steel wheels.
They take off four spares off of four trucks, and switch them with four steel wheels from one truck. Then they charge the unsuspecting customer for a set of "Optional" Alloy Wheels.

I think you hit the nail on the head there!

it must be the luck of the draw. I remember someone with an 06 complaining that they got a steel spare. I remember because i almost sold them an extra wheel i had so that they could have 5 alloys to rotate their tires using the spare.
I have an 06 alloy, no pressure sensor. Oh, I got a cable lock around that bad boy ;-)
Great... Now I have to go check if my 08 has steelies too now as a spare.
hmm, to add to the mystery, i was looking at the old titan brochures, on the page that shows the frame (frame painted red with chrome exhaust shown explaining the frame/engine/and brake components), the 2004/2006 (dont have a 2005 catalog!) catalog shows an alloy off-road package wheel at the spare tire location. The 08 shows a steel spare tire. You would think they would have photoshoped a full size alloy in there (dont have an 07 catalog to reference either). They have been using the same frame picture since 04, they just photoshoped a different engine cover when they changed in 07.

maybe im just reading too much into it, haha

That's one of the funniest things i have ever heard there. As if.......I know car sales guys dont have the best reputation, but thats ridiculous.
My 2008 SE CC has a steel wheel. Is it possible that the alloy is only the LE package? Anyone with an 08 LE already take a peek?? I'd think that the alloy would get ate up on any northern trucks where salt and all the nasty crap from the road sits on the surface. The steel wheel will hopefully last longer, just can't use it to rotate in with the rest of the tires.
I have an '08LE and I have the alloy...damn you all for me having to go out there with a flashlight and check it out!
My 08 SE is the same as my other 4 wheels minus a Pressure sensor.
My 08 SE CC LB has a steel spare.
hit or miss...

my 2008 SE KC 4x4 has a full size alloy wheel/goodyear tire. same as stock minus the valve stem. fyi, my 2004 also had a full size alloy spare, rotated it in when I needed new tires.
