Coil comparison

So I have been hunting for a good ground between comfort and lift and still have not found the right combo.

COMBOS TRIED:
1. Stock shocks with stock 04 coils, too soft/mushy, too low (ground clearance)

2.stock shocks (04 2wd cc) with spacers which was fine but still not level, had cbc and shocks were blown out.

3.prorunner ss with pro4x springs stock setting - way too harsh

4.(current set up) prorunner ss with 08+ 4x4 springs - softer but still harsh on these crappy highways (Southern California)

So now i'm back to the drawing board and wondering

1. does anyone have an actual comparison between the 04-07 4x4 springs and the 08+ 2wd springs? And in comparison to my 08+ 4x4 springs

2. Would it be easier to run my stock 04 2wd springs and preload them with the adjust collar?

Any input would be great I wouldn't mind if the truck is 1 inch or so lower at this point..

It just is jarring right now when the pavement changes, over speed bumps, it likes to line follow, which it didn't do when it was on 04 springs.

Off-road if you are going fast 60+ it will do fine but it preloads off a lot of it rather than soaking.

Thanks in advance.

Bilsteins are proven to be the best shock between stock and going full blown coilover.

IMO you'd be best with going to a 4x4 spring with bilsteins on middle or bottom setting. I believe the pre 08 4x4 springs will give you a softer ride but i'm not sure. i'm sure you've found the threads where trucks like yours ran the newer 4x4 springs with bilsteins and got like 4" of lift.

Maybe look at the Fox 2.0's if you don't wanna drop 1k on coilovers. TAP has them for 800 i believe. you can then fine tune the ride height and you can re valve them to get it perfect.

Honestly, i'm looking to get a new truck but my truck doesn't have enough mileage to sell it so I thought I would get it comfortable and keep it..

I've learned with my next truck i'll just do a nice set of coilovers and not mess with it again..
just make sure to go with a proven coilover on whatever platform you are getting. i went with brand new fox 2.5's. they are great but they don't give the most travel. i should've gone with Radflo/SAW/Icon.

Ya, I work in the powersports industry so they all offer us a pretty good deal.
