Anybody know what the average mileage one can get out of a set of coil packs, or what the recommended mileage they should be changed?

Do you think that one of them is going bad. I'm not sure about the coil packs on how long they work, but I think when I change out the spark plugs I think I would change out the boots (all 8) on the bottom of the coil pack before changing out the whole pack.
I would think they would go well over 100k. coils run until they crap out.

I`ve never had a COP fail like the old ones did...

No, my rig is running fine. I was just curious if there was a certain time frame (mileage) that the packs should be changed.
Only replace as needed, however if one does fail I'd probably be inclined to change them all. I'd personally wouldn't worry about them until they crap out

It seems like it is a very unusual situation to replace the coil packs. I bet there aren't more than 10 threads where someone had one fail. There are at least two threads I know of where someone broke one when replacing a spark plug.
These trucks are nothing like fords modular engines which seems to have failing coils constantly
My 04 Navigator lost the #5 coil @107k, but that one is usually the 1st to go. I didn't completely die but was going bad & was causing a code to pop.

Did you replace just the bad one, or buy all new coil packs and replace them all?

I bought a OEM coil & it was $87 so I just replaced that one, that motor is a god awful disaster to work on so I wasn't about to tare into anymore than I had too plus I'm planning onto getting rid of it in a few months. The #5 plug is the easiest one to get to so I was lucky.
Even on T I don't think I would just replace all of them if one went bad, they are pricey.
