I looked but found a lot of people recommending the Infinity References. I've had these before and the highs are just too bright for me. I'm not looking to go crazy so the price needs to stay under $200.

I'll have a 4-channel Alpine MRP F-450 powering these and some Alpine Type R coaxials in the rear doors.

Thanks.

A set of the Boston Pro's that tech has on sale would be great and they have a very neutral sound from what I have heard. I love my CDTs and they have plenty of pairs in that range but I think the boston deal tech has going is pretty damn good.

Boston s60 comps use a soft dome tweeter and is very smooth and right at your price range.

Are you guys talking about the BA sx-60's?
In all honesty Infinity makes some of the worst sounding speakers and subs as does Polk audio and Alpine. I have never been impressed with any one of these lines. MB Quart may not be what it use to be but they are great speakers for the dollar. Boston has a good history as well.

I think thats a little harsh. I'm not an audio "expert" at all, but looking at them as a company and a brand, they didn't get where they are by selling "the worst sounding speakers".

You must have the hearing of a wolf.

In the price range they are in there are way better choices. Infinity tweeters are very bright, .Some people love this. I do not . I prefer a smooth tweeter . Even the quarts are bright but you can take them 6 db down and they smooth right out. I have never had good luck with tuning cars with infinty comps in it and one of the competition vehicles I tuned weekly for Maggie Crye In El Peso had infintys and it was a nightmare to get it smooth . Music System in El peso did a car audio & electronics cover install on this car and it was just hard to tune because of the comps up front.

Your right. My ears are terrible........ You don't need a good product to be successful when you have the money for marketing. Dodge makes some of the worst vehicles when it comes to quality but it doesn't seem to affect them. A friend of mine thinks his Chrylser is nicer than a Mercedes Benz. Merge or not, that is rediculous.

I have never been impressed with Alpine, Infinity or Polk. My customers have always been happy but not many people have a trained ear. These are 3 of the most requested brands I have had in my 13 years as an installer and they do not size up with other brands in the same price range.
A wolf would have *great* hearing - you took it the wrong way.

Poor analogy on my part.

The S60's (not SX). I just bought two sets from tech12volt this week and I can't wait to install them. I'm expecting a massive improvement over the stockers.

FWIW, I had also looked at the Polks, and have owned Infinity Reference in the past, and everything I read about both (plus my experience with the Infinity's) was not good. You'd be surprised that for as many positive user reviews you read, there are nearly as many (maybe more) that say the mid-bass is weak and the tweets are too bright.

I was also looking at Boston's, and knowing I shouldn't do anything without talking to tech first, I went to him asking about Memphis comps. When he recommended the Boston S60's at the price he's selling them for, I didn't even hesitate to jump on them. While I can't wholeheartedly recommend the Boston's without having listened to them yet, I think they'll be great. I'll post back here once I have them installed (in a week or so).

I will say this. I have not had to warranty one piece of Boston anything all year long. Subs, amps, comps anything
okay silly question for P and Tech.

What's your opinion, Pioneer 6900 ub or the kenwood dex 501 ( I do like the double din).

Should I put Components in the front or 6x9's or component 6x9's. Plan on replacing the rear speakers too. I would love to put a box in. But I store too much under the seats.

That's good to know. I'm slowly putting together a list of stuff I want
I would go with the Kenwood Excelon DPX 701 if you want a good performing affordable double din.
Thanks P!

I looked at that one too.

Tech you need to carry those. LOL
