I've had my 04 in the shop for about three weeks now. Fixing a bunch of neglected stuff from previous owner. As they were getting ready to install two new front shocks, they called saying they found a crack in one of the spindles. Not sure where or how bad the crack is but they are taking it to a welding shop to see if it can be repaired. This is the cheaper way to go/fix the problem, otherwise I'll have to get an entire new lift for the front. They told me the kit I have is no longer made so they can't order on spindle, one can be made but it would take a few weeks and cost is not cheap. Has anyone dealt with a spindle problem like this?

Thanks for any feedback.

I got the truck in July and came with the lift, not sure what brand lift is on there. The shop I took it to specializes in 4x4 so I think if they thought it was not repairable, they would have told me. I have not heard from the shop since Monday, as the saying goes, no news is good news. I was hoping someone might have had an issue like this, with repaired spindle and how it held up after. I'll post when I hear something from the shop.

I had seen the post about that accident and my spindle is similar to that.

Thanks,

Hey Golfnut, I totally appreciate it. Replaying to LSturbointeg, the shop is about half hour from my place, with traffic it's about 40min so I can't drop in easily to check on progress. This shop has been around for a long time and has great reviews. I met the owner the first time and he talked me thought everything he planned on doing, very, very knowledgeable. I'm trusting that he would recommend not getting it repaired if down the road it would be an issue. Also, not getting it repaired he could make more money off me be having him do more work adding a whole new kit L/R side. I see where you are coming from, my first thought too when they told me about issue. I'm putting my trust in this man's work and knowledge, I'll keep you posted. Thanks.
