man, that sucks. driving anywhere with no cruise control is terrible

 

I must be the odd man out as I never use cruise control. I haven’t even verified if it works in my truck or even experienced the adaptive cruise control.

Do you have any aftermarket mods? Bully dog, pedal commander, etc?

 

Just a tonneau cover, CAI and side step bars.

I don't have adaptive. I wouldn't use it if I had that. I don't like that, at all.

Or towing. No cruise while towing but driving to San Antonio or to Harlingen requires cruise.

I guess since the closest cities to me are over two hours any direction? Maybe that is why I use cruise so much?

 

My 2020 p4x is my first ever rig with adaptive cruise. Never thought it would be something I'd care about, but it's actually pretty nice for long trips. I set the cruise for the speed I want to go, then I let the truck handle the speed as I change lanes as appropriate. If there's no 'fast' lane, truck automatically settles in nicely behind the slow SOBs until I can get around them then pops me right back up to my preferred travel speed. Also, it's helped me to deal with getting behind folks who don't drive with cruise, because I don't have to turn my cruise off as their foot fluctuates.

 

Adaptive sucks

 

I love adaptive cruise. We have it in a couple cars and I typically set it for 10 over the limit and try to stay in the right lane moving over only when the car in front of me is going too slow. Wish I had it in my Titan.

 

How are you not in control or alert? Does turning on the cruise control make you sleepy? Once you tap the brake or press the button on the steering wheel the cruise control immediately shuts off.

 

It's also been disabling the collision mitigation when I drive into directly bright sunlight like at sunset or sunrise...gremlins...

Mine has done that before too when driving directly into bright morning sun. I think since these have a forward facing camera in the windshield, this is safety thing. Camera can't see any better than I can in that sun.

 

After visit to dealer, it turns out the sensor was caked in ice and dirt causing it to not turn on. Service mgr said it's an unfortunate problem in my area with lots of vehicles. Have to remember that for next year..or next week....
