I know this is crazy. but do any of yall know if a cummins would fit in our trucks. cuz that would be so sweet.... and expensive hah

I read an article in Truckin Magazine a few months ago about a guy who put a cummins in his dakota. It took him a few years but he did it. Im sure since our truck is bigger there should be more space to fit it. That would be badass.

I don't see why not, you just need the engine and ecu and some custom fabrication of the drivetrain. Might be expensive if someone else has to do it for you though. I don't know why someone would do this though, but it's up to you. I personally would just go to a salvage auction and bid on a dodge diesel truck and get it for dirt cheap.

But why? A Diesel in a half ton would be a waste. If they upped the Titan to a 3/4 or 1 ton, then I could see the need. Otherwise...IMHO, you're bringing a cannon to a fist fight.redrocket16 said:

Compared to gasoline engines, they're slow as ****. Especially off the line. They're not meant for that type of use. Can you make one fast?...certainly you can if you throw enough $$$ at it. But you can also add pontoons and make it float, or wings to make it fly....doesn't mean it's built for it! My point simply being that other than for heavy hauling....heavier than a 1/2 ton can haul, a Diesel would be a waste. And with the price of Diesel nowadays, the mileage excuse, pertaining to truck use, is fading into the background fast.RobKar said:

The real reason diesels can be made fast quicky is that little spinny thing hooked to it called a TURBO! Increase the fuel and boost to it and it will be fast.
This also works well for TURBO gas engines, so the TURBO is the real perfromance part.
But as I said in my other post its gonna cost a fortune to put that big inline6 in our little engine compartment. Heck has anyone looked at how much smaller our engine compartment is than the doges?

The ones you see that are doing amazing things are beasts with lots of money throne at them items like propane injection and heavy mapping reprogramming as well as a load of other stuff. Stuff just to try and make them comparable to their gasoline counterparts. Because of how Diesels operate, they don't have the off the line quickness of a gas engine. That alone makes them feel sluggish until the revs rise. But sure, you can make a Diesel fast....but like I asked earlier....why? They're haulers not racers.
