Currie Ent Titan replacement Rear end

I posted this in the General section earlier, We (Currie Ent ) are thinking of developing a replacement 9 inch and D60 rear for the Titan.. We have nothing yet. I need feed bake from the people on this forum as to what you use the trucks for and what failures you have had. The more response to this the better. I need to show the powers that be that there is a market for this.

This is not spam. I am trying to gather info on what you guys feel is needed.

Thanks for your time

The main failures have been the axle seals & the erlier models had spider gera failures. I think there would be alot of interest in this for the right price. if you are talking $2000.00 you mght be limited in your sales. keep it around a grand or under & there would be alot of interest.
The ones who've replaced the early OEM Spider Gears with a Trutrac Locker haven't had any problems. The 2008 and newer doesn't have a Trutrac available and I seem to remember reading threads about 1 or 2 of those that failed. A D60 would be sweet, even sweeter if you make one for the Armada too. A few weeks ago, I rode in rtc1184's with a D60 on 38" Swampers on it and that's just flat out badarsed, TONs of torque..

My wish is that someone would manufacture a switch activated solenoid actuated pinion gear that slides from an outer gear ring to an inner gear ring, so we could have both non-Tow and Big Tow gears on the same truck.

I'd love to have a D60 on my Armada, I just don't know of one that's in a housing that will bolt up to the axle flanges of the IRS.

Like Jody said, the price will determine the market size.

Thanks for the input, Price is always a concern when developing new product. That being said, manufacturing cost alone would be well over a grand. I dont know any pricing yet and sense we are not a vendor on this site i really can post it if i did. The goal hear is to build a rear end that will solve any issue a Titan owner would have

leaking axle seals. not enough aftermarket gear options. I'd like a DANA 60.
Make some gears for the front and you guys will have crazy business

I think if you put together some type of all in one kit that would include upgraded replacement seals, a Detroit tru trac locking diff, and a higher volume finned cover and maybe a replacement axle vent that actually works we would be all over it. I live about 5 minutes from
your shop if you need a truck for anything.

Thats a pretty good idea, that kit sounds pretty good

What we are looking at doing is replacing the entire rear end not making parts for the Titan specific Dana rear. Using a more conventional and proven rear end like a D60 or a Ford 9 inch would open up alot of different carrier and gear options.

The tru trac is not a locking diff. It is a limited slip. It is a really nice LSD. Currie sell 100s of these a year. If we built a 9 or a D60 you would be able to use a Detroit locker or a ARB air locker.

I think I've read that a Dodge D60 with new tone rings is a nice fit.
IF you make a complete rear end, along with a SAS kit for the front, I'd be all over it. Both the front and rear diffs are the weak points on these trucks. I'm glad I don't use mine for work, ohter than hauling the occasional 4-wheeler or appliance.

We will most likely never offer a SAS "kit", but when we figure out the ABS and Speed sensor we may be able to build a one ton front end with no suspension mounts that you could weld to.
I love that Currie is looking into this. I wanna drive the Titan until my 8 year old learns to drive in it. I need a stronger rear end and an aluminum radiator.

The gen2 Frontiers and Xterras (2005 and up) have the same rear as the Titan (M226 rear) just 5" shorter. We mostly use are for off road.

The Titan front diff is very popular with the Frontier and Xterra's owner since it is lager and bolt right up. If there was a front replacement diff that give options like gears, lockers, and LSD's it would sell very well.

If you build it I WILL BUY IT. Preferably a 9" front and rear with some extra skid plating for rocks.
