Is there a special tool to remove the dash speakers without damaging the push pins ?
I just pulled the tweeters with a 6" pry bar. put the bar just under the tweeter lip and pop, tweeter and pins (complete) came up all at once. The hardest part was disconnecting the wires from the speakers.pciley said:Yeah, those plastic pins were a bit$h. My tool as described by duffer, same thing but mine's about 8" long and still took alot of muscle to pry them out. If I had to do over I would have just got them up high enough to cut the heads off with wire cutters because your new speaker or tweeter is going to be screwed in anyways. Then, just push the plastic studs through the holes once you have taken the speaker out and have your other hand behind to catch. If you miss it don't leave the plastic in your dash to rattle around just reach under and grab it from floor side. There is a little metal shelf that it will fall onto right under where the speaker is.
What kind of speaker/tweeter are you replacing with?
