I bought some DDM 8000k HIDs for my fogs and just got them installed. Most 8000k HIDs have a little blue in them but these are actually just as white or whiter than my 6000k HIDs that I have in my headlamps. I called DDMtuning and he just told me that every company has different color charts. Has anyone else purchased the DDM 8000k HIDs and noticed this same thing? I attached a photo and the headlamps are 6000k and my fogs are the DDM 8000k, but they are really white! I wonder if they sent me the wrong ones?

i sent them an email of that same pic and this is what they said back:"HID's can reflect different colors based on the different applications you put them in. Headlights vs Fogs etc.. Also, different brands may uses different kelvin rating scales as well. The headlights in the picture are really blue. I would say they are closer to our 12,000K."
My headlights are no where near the color of 12000k! DDMtuning tech support is no help

What's the wattage on those? My 35W 6000K's were fairly blue. My 55W 8000K's are bright bright white. In theory, the hotter color should burn more blue, but the wattage changes that.

According to their website, a 55w 8000K kit is going to look similar to a 35w 6000K kit. I have the 35w 6000K for both lows and my fog lights and they are no where near as white as that, mine has a hint of blue.

I really love how they say "Different companies use different color charts" as if the Kelvin rating is subject to opinion or interpretation. That is like them telling you they consider 80F to be more like what other people think is 60F. There is no tweaking of physics. It is what it is.

mine are the 35w 8000k. I know the 55w washes out the color and thats why i went with the 35w. i called DDMtuning and he basically told me that they never mess up orders. I just laughed and told him i'm not an idiot and i need a shipping package slip so they can look at them.

They're FOS. 8k is 8k is 8k...if it differs from another 8k, then it's not 8k! It's like saying every companies 60W light bulb uses different wattages...no, if it uses 75 watts, then it's not a 60W bulb, it's a 75W bulb! Kelvin is a color temperature or just plain color for argument sake. 8k should be blue bordering on a purple-ish. If it's as white or whiter than your 6k bulbs, then they sent you the wrong ones. Here's a decent color chart.
