I live in the suburbs of Detroit and have still not seen a Titan on the road yet. The dealers in the area have from 0 to 4 Titans on their lots to look at. Just came back form vacation in Florida and was amazed to stop by a dealer and see that they had 60 Titans in inventory. I imagine Nissan figures that the Detroit market will be a hard sell for an import full size pick up. My last three vehicles have been Dodge pickups and all it took was one test drive in the Titan to know that this was my next vehicle. I ordered mine January 7th and have anxiously been awaiting it's arrival with a eta of March 26th (killing me). Curious to see the type of response I get around town as well as form friends - seems like everyone around here is tied to the big three in some way and extremely loyal - especially truck owners. Anticipating some negative response at first however I would think that if the truck is as good as people say it is that it will be able to compete even in this market. Can't wait to be able to show it off to the "nay sayers".

Here's the magic phrase to use when naysayers start berating your truck.

"Let's take it out for a spin, here, you drive."

I feel like I am 17 again when I drive this beast, I don't care about the body, bed or interior, all I care about is the drivetrain and how much FUN it is to zoom around in this thing.

Yeah - I think your prescription - allow them to test drive will quiet any naysayers. Like I said - one test drive was all it took for me. Been awhile since I drove the truck and cannot wait to drive my own. Been tempted to stop by other dealers and keep taking test drives. Would be great to see Nissan do well with the Titan in this market. If they can compete here they should be able to compete anywhere.

In the same boat

waitingfortitan,
I live in New Boston (wayne cty) I also ordered my Titan early January and expect delivery the end of March. I did see (1) a Copper Titan crew cab a month back on the road near Livonia. What did you order? I will keep an eye out for you later this month!

Motman,

I ordered a smoke KC 4x4 LE big tow from Tamarrof in Southfield. I am curious - is the delivery date longer than you where initially told? Where did you order yours from. From what the few dealers I spoke to at the time I ordered - they where telling me to expect the truck at the end of February/begining of March. Not a big deal I am sure it will be worth the wait.

Also - curious - about your opinion on peoples perception of the Titan when we start driving them around the "Motor City"? Appears that there will not be many on the road considering dealer inventories in the area. This will be my first "import".

It's the same story here in ID. Dealer gets 3-4 titans every 10 days and 1 or 2 are already sold before they hit the ground. The other ones barely last a week on the lot. In talking with the salesman he said all of the dealerships in the northwest are in the same position. It makes no sense to me why Nissan would load up the Eastern dealerships and then ration Titans to the dealerships in the North and Northwest.

I think I would be nervous if I bought my Titan in a Big 3 union town like Detroit. Watch out for the Japanese haters. I would hate to see someone key your truck. I'm nervous as hell leaving my Titan in a parking lot. I always park at the back of the lot though. I figure if I can save her from a few door dents and get some exercise, then it is better for both of us :upsidedow

Waitingfortitan,
I ordered my Titan from **** Scott (Canton). The Dealer origionally told me "early March". But when I called mid way thru February, I was told there was a 2 week delay. Finally they called me March 1st and gave me the VIN and order number. They also state the delivery for March 29th. My next door neighbor bought a new F150 Lariat (every 3 years he "buys" a new one) and seemed conviced that the Japaneese could not build a good truck. He said they used "cheap thin steel" in body construction that will soon rust out. When I asked him how he liked his new truck, he did not seem to excited about it. In fact he indicated that he liked his old 2000 crew cab Lariat better. Personnally I do not care what others think. I work for a Japanees automotive supplier and I know they make superior vehicles. They also pay my bills, so I will continue to look at Toyota and Nissan first for my vehicles. My wife drives a 2000 Toyota Sienna with 60,000+ miles that has never been the shop for repair....Now thats quality!
I will be driving my new Nissan with a proud smile...and an extended warrantee!

Loading the delaerships in the East? :jester: That's a joke. I've yet to see a dealership in the NorthEast with more than 8 on stock. To make matters worse what they do ship here is 4X4s which I had to eat because there were no 4X2 trucks to be found within 100 miles of me. One dealer said the factory is shipping 4X2s down south (he said Texas) and sending them >90% 4X4s. I did do some online searching down in Texas (Corpus Christi) and did find several that matched my specs.

Couldn't wait though, drove 45 miles past several other dealers to get one I wanted (plus 4 wheel drive  ).

I guess Nisan is guessing (wrongly from all the ordering) what the demand is in certain markets and shipping a few to each dealership. Well I guess eventually we will all get our trucks :upsidedow

Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I'm the latest Detroit area Titan driver! I wanted to see if there are many more of us now, since this thread was from back in March. I've only seen maybe six, and I drive between Livonia and Bloomfield Hills every day.
