I'd like to black-out the chrome "V8 Endurance" badge on the sides of my 2017 Titan, but wasn't sure how it would look. Thought about Plasti Dip, then thought maybe I would just have LINE-X coat the badges while they're installing the leveling kit. Wondered if anyone here had done it and could show pics.

If not, is there anyone in the forum who is proficient with Photoshop? I was pretty good with CS3 back in the day...but the only devices I use now (phone and tablet) won't support the software.

I was looking for pictures of mine, but I just had then removed. My opinion it could not be easier to do the plasti dip, especially if you want to try it out to see if you like it. Removes pretty easy. Search the site for the plastic dip thread, tons of pics in there.

I have a '17 titan half ton too and would like to dip all my chrome badges, and possibly wrap my door handles and front bumper/grill. Let me know if you come across anything.

Plasti-dip or a local tint shop I'm about to get all mine vinyl wrapped on all crome
Oh, wow, I didn't even think about wrapping...that's a great idea. I'm gonna shop around next week and see if I can find somewhere locally to get it done...ESPECIALLY since LINE-X just informed me they no one currently makes a leveling kit that will accommodate the longer shocks of the new Pro-4X. So I wont be going there after all.

Little late to the thread. I did plasti dip on all my chrome except the bumper. I got the bumper powder coated because I didn't think it would hold up. After about 2 months the plasti dip looks great on the grill and emblems. I prepped it well and see no problems whatsoever. I did it on the door handles and that's peeling from the hands rubbing it. Trying to decide if I'll buy new handles or take them off and paint them myself. I didn't think the plasti dip would work well on the handles but it was worth a try. Overall, pretty impressed with the stuff.

^^Did you just tape those letters and badges off any then spray it on?

That's slick. I've contacted a few shops to paint my handles, mirrors, and grille. Apparently it won't hold up even tho it's fake chrome/plastic. I plasti dipped my last trucks grill and it turned out decent enough but wasn't really all that happy. It was uneven and prepped it real good. I never thought about power coating. Would that hold up on plastic? I've never power coated anything.

Powder coat will only work on metal. Part of the process is heating it in an oven. There are thread where people talk about painting the plastic chrome with mixed results. I'm sure there has to be a way to get that chrome paint layer off, I just haven't figured it out yet. So far the plasti dip is holding up well but I don't think it's the long term answer.

Kidfixer, if you plastidip and don't like it you can just take it off. Although those pics from DZ look good on that endurance badge. I've had plastidip on my Gen 1 emblems for probably 6 years now and they've faded and peeled somewhat. This summer I think I'm going to try to get the dip off and just rattle can bedline them.

As far as the leveling kit, the suspension is the same as Gen 1 and I've had a spacer on my truck for about 135,000 miles. Just get a spacer that matches the rake you want to remove and put it on top of the strut.

How did you dip mirrors?

Mirrors were already black. I had a few parts that I painted over the plastic chrome which turned out well. I sanded and scuffed the finish and used a epoxy primer. From what I've read, anything less than an epoxy primer won't hold on the chrome finish. If I had to do my mirrors I'd either buy black ones or prime and paint. PlastiDip would work on them but it's a pain to clean the bugs off.

That looks great! I’m currently starting on mine. It’s a ‘17 Pro4x same color and badges.

Question, on the front grill badge and the front fender V8 badges, did you leave the inset black areas with the Plasti Dip or did you leave those coated as well? On the V8 badges, I was thinking it might be difficult to remove it with the inset honeycomb and it peeling away cleanly.
