You have a fuse box inside below the glove box. You can tap into the fuse that would power the right hand power point in your dash, the one that's only on with the ignition on. I wouldn't use the scotch lock type connector. I'd use one of the other taps, or one of the "add-a-ciruit" taps you can get at Autozone to avoid actually damaging the wire. Get your power from there, put the ground in a suitable location under the dash, run the mute button over to your driver's side under the dash, and then the modular plug up inside one of the A-Pillars up to in front of your headliner and to your detector. That's if you want it mounted up by your mirror. Otherwise, run the modular one to your preferred location.

I wouldn't just stick a wire in there. It looks like his kit comes with something like what you have pictured. Another option is one of these:

Grabbing power from inside the overhead was what I did. I didn't know the color either and don't remember now. I just used a voltmeter and probed until I found one I could use.
