Do 08's Spew Gas Like Older Models?

I was just wondering if people with the 08 Titan or Armada's are having problems with gas spewing out the fuel spout when getting gas. I had this on both my 04 and 05 Titans and now my 07 Armada. A couple days ago I was filling up when I was on empty and the gas nozzle kept clicking off. The gas station guy had this happen about 3 times before it shot out and poured down the side of my vehicle. This is the same thing that would happen with my Titans. This morning I took my wifes Altima in to be serviced and asked the service writer if there is a known problem and fix for this. She says that I am the first to ever mention this as a problem. Hard to believe since all three of my Titan/Armada have all had this issue. If the 08's are not having this problem, then something had to have changed.. Any feedback would be appreciated :)

My 08, which I have only filled up once, does not have this issue. Then again, my 05 didn't have this issue either. We have different types of pumps here in Mass. though (high tech vapor recovery pumps). Not sure if that matters or not.
Burly- I don't know about the 08's but my has done it to me just twice since I bought it in 04. It happened when I let the tank get really low and filled it up maybe to fast. There was that thread a few weeks ago on how to fill up the tank slowly which I always do now. The two times it happened to me I could hear a rumbling noise and the gas tank as it filled then as you put it....it spewed out. Now if I hear the rumbling I stop and place the gas cap on.

I asked my service tech and he said it does happen but there wasn't any sort of fix, just fill it up slowly.

I am on my 4th tank full with my 08. Fills same as any other vehicle I have had. If anything, I think the gas must be spewing out of the talpipe. LOL
A Titan that doesn't like gas. That's a new one.

Honestly though. My 06 has never spewed gas. This sounds like a vent problem.
Only time my 05 has spewed gas is when I tried to top it off to the last ounce to round off the pump. Overfilled it.
ya same here my 06 never did it. and now my 08 I have just over 6kmiles on it so I have filled it a dozen times or more and have not had that problem.
many tank fulls since 2004 and i can't report a single spewing incident. i have noticed that some pump styles are changing and that could be related. it looks like you're a mudder, maybe you've got a clogged vent somewhere as mentioned above..

i have noticed on vehicles with "steep" filler necks this is more of an issue.
I agree. No problems with my '06 either. And I fill at a dozen different stations. Never had it spit fuel out. This truck likes it too much, I think. :dunno:
I've had fuel spit out before, maybe 10 times in all. I think the pump is to blame though. It was repeatable at the same station.
I also think the pump is to blame. Perhaps its sensor does not pick up the backpressure quick enough allowing the gas to spew out. I typically fill up at the same stations and never had a problem. The other day I went to a station I had never been to before and the gas "spewed" out of the tank. I drive an '04 and have 37k miles on it.
My 06 does it dam near every time i go and fill her up.. But i usually run her down pretty low... Ive just gotten used to it and carry a few extra rags to clean the side of my truck.. :jester:
Once it gets near full, drop the pump nozzle speed to slow. See if that helps...

Oh, and ruauman2,

Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed,
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

CHORUS
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the trees

CHORUS

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one.

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky.
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why.

I have an '08 Titan LE 4X4 and have never experienced the gas overflowing when filling up. This is my first Titan, so I have no prior knowledge with them and I only have around 6000 miles. Hopefully, I won't discover that this feature only manifests itself somewhere down the line. Good luck.

Alrighty then...you are on the list BB!!!:teethmast

I curse you with "spewing gas syndrome"!
Hey, I'm on so many lists, why should you be left out?

Nobody said you had to READ the lyrics.....
If I let the pump kick off it doesn't spew out, if I try to fill it all the way up it will just like everyother vehicle I have ever owned.
I never had it happen on my '04, but the most I ever put in to fill it is about 24 gallons, and usually only 21 or 22 gallons. Full-flow on the nozzle until it kicks off, don't top off because I read on the pump it's a crime.

Has the vapor recovery nozzle though so maybe I'm giving it back to the gas station and don't even know it.

Those '08 38? gallon tanks on the lwb Titans only, (I think), would be nice on long trips, especially when towing. Nothing worse than running out of gas in the middle of nowhere when it's 115 or -40 F ... or even more extreme.
