I worked on a few things today. The first was garage lighting. If, like me, you have a single-bulb fixture in your garage, you know how pitiful the light is for working on things. There are lots of ways to get more light, but I wanted something that didn't require a permanent installation, as I'm renting the house. I decided to try one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NJLDWQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's got a claimed light output of 12,000 lumens. That's probably a bit optimistic, but it does do a REALY good job of getting light all over the garage. The four panels are articulated so you can aim them for the best effect.

For a mere $35, I'm really happy with the result!

I added these to my garage a while ago too . . . they are great.

I need to add one to my attic too.

And this is a great thread . . . reminds me of a lot of the things I did to my first truck in college 30 years ago.
Thanks! I started modding vehicles with my first truck at 16 years old and never outgrew it. Cars, trucks, bikes... nothing has escaped my modding addiction!

I installed my new HID kit today. It's a 55W kit with 6000K bulbs.

Before: Silverstar Ultra halogen bulbs

After: 6000K HID

Comparison: Halogen on the driver side, HID on the passenger side.

With high beams on:

The high beams are Silverstar Utras, but still look really yellow surrounded by all the HID and LED bulbs. I may invest in some LEDs for the high beams later on.

The next project was added a holster to the center console for my CCW/truck gun. I decided to use the Blackhawk! SERPA quick disconnect system, thanks this thread from 2013 DIY Kydex Holster + Mounts Credit to user Smons for the idea.

The holster is by Viridian and automatically activates the light/laser when the gun is drawn. It originally had a Level 2 retention lock. I didn't want or need that for a truck mounted holster, so I removed it.

A few holes and screws, and the puck was mounted in the console.

Now, I just insert the adapter and give it a small twist, and the holster is locked in place.

It's a very natural reach and draw stroke while seated.

I like your setup. I have a "Gum Creek" holster mounted directly under the steering wheel with a Glock 21 in .45 caliber.

Thanks! I really like this solution because I can buy more of the adapter plates and use different holster/gun combos, depending on what I'm carrying that day. My PT145 gets the most used on a daily basis, especially as a truck gun. It's hard to argue with 15 rounds on .45acp! When I CC it, I switch to the shorter 10 round mags.

Now I need to come up with a good way to mount a spare mag or two in the console within easy reach.
