Dragstrip Tonight

I going to try and go to the strip tonight and run my bike and Titan. My buddy here ran 14.49 with his Dodge standard cab Hemi last Sat. He took the tires and rims from his wife's Durango, and used them on his truck. His only mod is a homemade air intake. He used 4" PVC and a cone filter, that should make Volant and K&N cringe. They do not have a mass air sensor. His truck is limited to 104 mph, so with the smaller tires, that is around 92 mph. I will see what I can do aganist him.

If I beat him with the bike, he may want to race me with his Dodge Duster, 9 second car, I don't think I can either way.

How about a foot race...???

Just kidding...Good luck and let us know how it went!

Got any work on your truck? Chances are he's going to get you. Post some slips, though!
I have the Volant air box and Flowmaster 40 dual exhaust . I still have the resonators, for now.

Back from the dragstrip before 9:30 we made 3 passes. I went with a full tank of gas, 87 oct, He was setting on empty with 93 oct. I will post the slips on Monday, from work.
----1st pass---------------2nd pass---------------3rd pass
R/T--.805-------------------1.182------------------.643
60'---2.295------------------2.316-----------------2.316
1/8---9.903-----------------9.904------------------9.915
mph--71.85------------------72.36-----------------71.67
1/4---15.368----------------15.357-----------------15.393
MPH
He ran 14.71, 14.71 and 14.78, at 90.50. He was beating me out of the hole bad, because of the small rims and tires from his wife's Durango
if I run the Titan, I will run a couple of tanks of premiun first and go with the tank on empty.

Not bad Sir.

Is your Titan 2wd or 4? Any traction problems?

I'm afraid of traction issues when I go and may against better judgment have to lock em in or do you think the rubber built up on the track should hold me pretty good...

I've never been so it's going to be a new experience for me and I'll be glad to put my skepticism about the G to rest hopefully with the times I'm getting with it.

I had no traction problems, and I have the 2wd XE, so only one wheel is really pulling. I'm not use to holding the brake with my left foot, so that was real awkward feeling.
The 1/8 mile on the 3rd pass is wrong, should be 9.915

I didn't realize that the Hemi motor was even available in regular cab form. Except for the Rumble Bee of course. I should get out more, huh?

Good God, that's all I ever run at the dragstrip. Depending on how gung-ho the owner is, the hemi std cabs are between 200 and 700 pounds lighter. I know that will cause a lot of people to say HUH!?!?, but it all depends on what has been removed from the trucks. I think the year of the Dodge is also a factor. but after some people remove bumpers, full exahusts, and a bunch of other things it does indeed add up a lot. And they're about 200 pounds lighter than my crew cab with my tailgate and spare removed just for starters.

I didn't remove anything because I didn't got home until around 7 pm, I just changed clothes and went to the strip. The next time I go, I will be setting on empty with premiun gas. The air was not good last night either, he ran 14.49 at 92 mph last Saturday, better air. We shouldn't even be racing our trucks, his car runs 9.80s and my bike runs about the same, that's the race we should be running.

Like I said. I didn't know that. Now that I do, explain to me the difference between that and a rumble bee. Is there anything different aside from some silly stickers and a painted center stack cover.

I believe that the rumble bee is lowered, and comes with the ground effects add ons, at least the ones I have seen are thay way.

Yeah as far as I know that's about it - a body kit and paint. I think they look OK.

Hello All,
have not checked in with you guys for a while, The Rumble Bees are just paint and a stick on hood scoop.. just eyeball candy.. and to the guy who said to get the PVC out of the engine bay, well that PVC has been worth about 3 tenths over my stock intake. Think I am going to have to keep it. My Intake will out perform ANY one of them out there. Hey Head, sorry I did not get to talk to you very much at the last HRP outing, I spent so much time in the staging lanes ( about an hour per pass ) that I got disgusted and split. 6 passes the whole nite and I got there before they started making passes. just for your curiosity's sake my truck weighed in at 4419 w/o a spare but with the tailgate on and about another 30 or so pounds that could have been removed before I got there. ( Tman has his truck down to 4260 ).

Welcome, my buddy here in hallsville has not lightened his truck any, he has lowered it about 4", and he has the smaller 18" rims for racing. He has the PVC intake, his best pass so far, is 14.49 at 92 mph. His best pass aginst me was 14.71 at 90 mph. We both race motorcycles usually so this just for fun.

Thankx rholland,
I also like to play around on the bike, 00 ZX12-R, but have yet to take it to the track. Feel like I need at least a 3 inch longer arm on it and have yet to get the full set of leathers. I normally ride with my Joe Rocket Phoenix suit ( a lot more comfortable but I know it is not as good ).
I have been running the 4 inch PVC ( sewer grade ) for about a year now and have had no signs of melting or wear thru at all and am in my 3 generation design.
perhaps someday I will get down to racing the bike on the strip but gotta get the front down.
