Finally got these bad boys on. $700 labor, but then I had a bad O2 sensor, and needed a few more gaskets and flanges than I realized.

Also, I didn't realize that not all the holes in the DTs on the engine side actually use the bolts (only ever other one)

I can hear and feel the difference, but I did lose a little low end. Should disappear when the Uprev goes in.

The shop was instructed to make me up 2.25" B pipes and weld my MF HF cats in them, but the pipe they used looks suspiciously like my stock pipes cut and welded. Is this potentially a problem?

I checked for leaks with water while the engine was running, but my expertise is limited to say the least. I'll probably have a separate exhaust shop verify it's tight for me.

I'm just amped to have my baby back, it's been almost 3 months (my post count reflects it, lol. Been here since 07 and probably 80% of my posts are in the last couple of months)

Not if they were in good condition, many have done the same thing. If they billed me for buying pipe that I provided, I would mention it to them.

Nah, just labor.

I can't lie, within 5 minutes of driving it I was already dreaming of how the cams are gonna feel. I'd like to wait until I can afford to do the cams and rebuild the tranny at the same time. That way the TC stall can be adjusted to match the S2/S7 combo.

Yeah, I was wondering about that also. Seems like they designed the casting to allow more studs, but didn't drill for them.
They had already lost one of my manifold gaskets, and when I saw what appeared to be missing bolts I was a little dejected. I didn't see the install happen, so I didn't realize everything was kosher until I could get my head up in there and look through the empty DT hole.

After actually paying for it, I wish more than anything I had access to a lift and proper tools. I don't care if it would have taken me 3 days, that $700 would have got me half way to cams.

It was a major PITA, at least on a 4x4, and I have a crap load of tools. And it is possible to make expensive mistakes, like stripping threads in the block for motor mounts or manifold studs, breaking the $300 spiral electric cable in the steering wheel, f'ing up $400 worth of sensors, etc. so a competent paid installer is not a bad idea.

Cam install is not that simple either, from the pics I have seen.

Yeah, cams will be another pro install. The only mechanic buddy I have (that's a close enough friend to matter) is a tranny specialist, so at least I assist him in rebuilding mine, and sending the VB in for upgrading. I hope he can adjust my TC while we've got her open.

Way to go on the long tubes. Sounds good and once UpRev corrects your AFR, you will be set and should feel the low end again.

Wait at least a week and take the truck back to the installer to have him re-tighten the manifold bolts, believe me they will get loose as they did on mine. Get uprev quickly, and you will see how well the truck will run after your AFR's are within correct specs.

Ditto on the getting the bolts tightened again. I checked mine 3 times before I could not get them to budge anymore.

Just got my base tune email from Jared, now just waiting on the cable to show up in the mail. Tomorrow I'll take the T back to the shop and have them tighten the header bolts.
Been a long time since I've been so excited for the mailman to show up!

Bro that install was a little too high. I have done plenty of installs and I charge less than half of what you paid. Where you located?

Longview, TX. Most shops I talked to didn't want to do the work when I said 2 of the 4 cats were coming out permanently. A local Meineke shop finally agreed to do it for me. After almost 3 months of down time, I was just ready to be driving it again.
How close are you? I plan on having cams installed in the next few months.
