Dupont Coating for Plastic Bed Caps?

1102 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  thebassn8tr
Got my Line-x done today and they offered some coating to go on our plastic bed caps that was like 145-150.00. Anyone know what it is or something compareable?

I think he's talking about the 4inch plastic caps at the top of the bed.
Probably something to keep them from fading in the sun. I don't know the exact product you mentioned, but I have had a car coated with Xzylon, which has been used to coat airplanes for years. It was GREAT! No waxing and it always looked good, cleaned up easily, and really kept that car nice. From what I hear, Xzylon is no longer available, but there is a new product that is supposed to be better. It's called Simonize 5, I believe. This Dupont product may be something similar.
Probably a wast of money considering the bed caps are meant to be replaceable. I think their real cheap to replace like 35 dollars.

I'd rather pay about 5-10 bucks for some Armor All or something made to protedt plastic rather than replacing my bed rail tops (caps). I really am not a fan of Armor All, just attracts dirt IMO. Maybe that new clear wax that Armor All makes works better.
I got my line-x and had them come up over the rails for an extra $79. I am very pleased with it.

There is something MUCH better. Armor All WILL attract crap. I use ReNue. It's available at detail shops and vehicle care product suppliers. It is great! Just wipe on, buff off. Lasts for quite a while and protects while renewing the finish of the black plastic. No glossy shine. No sticky residue to attract dust. Nothing. I love the stuff.
