Electric Fan

Is anyone out there running an electric fan on their Titan? If so, did you notice any HP/TQ/MPG gains? What brand is it? How much did you spend? Where did you get it? Was it difficult to get the stock one off? Thanks a bunch for any help in advance.

There are one or two members who are. Though they may not be active much anymore. I haven't seen any posts in a while regarding this. Here's one thread that I could find though:

I would help you but I don't know that much about the best current setup either. Maybe one of the Racing Club guys will answer this.................Where's a Garage Crew Chief when you need one? First guy to answer this correctly has a job as a Garage Crew Chief, lol.
Thanks a million Titanss.

Does this mod really gain in HP, TQ, and mpg?
Im not 100% about this but the only thing I think it does it keep your trucks temp down alot which keeps it from loosing hp and what not when its gets real hot.
It should do more than that, because the current fan basically runs off the crank shaft if I'm not mistaken. That is an extra load that the motor would not feel if you had the electric fans. Theoretically that should give some gains. I'm just curious if anyone has any data.
I made my own which will outflow any commercially available kit.
Dr Combustion... did you notice any performance change?

Hey man, want a job as Garage Crew Chief? You would pretty much just help people like you are now but you would have all the prestige that goes with the title and the pay is the same as what you get now, lol. Just shoot me a PM if you are interested.
I don't race my truck, so any HP or TQ gains were not available. However, I did gain about 1.2 to 1.5 mpg with my fan and a 170 deg thermostat.

I found another benefit to be colder A/C, epescially in the July Texas heat while driving around town. I also liked the reduction of the temperature spikes as noted above.
for $150 bucks i bought 2 electric fans and mounted up to the rad. and yes you will notice hp and tq gains as i did and the engine sounds more crisp and beefy, less like a damn helicopter when you rev it up. i also have the 300z thermostat mod though so.

Thats a nice kit there. Like how it uses OEM mounting holes!!! One more thing to add to my list!!! :domohit:
You really won't notice much if any gains. Modern fan clutch assemblies are more efficient and the fan won't spin at highway speeds anyway. If the fan is mounted to the water pump then you might be able to say it will improve the lifespan of the pump...maybe. Main reasons for using electric fans are for adjustability (if you have a controller) and packaging. Electric fans will sap anywhere from 20 to over 40 amps at start-up...that puts a significant load on the alternator which wipes away most of the gains from losing the parasitic loss of the mechanical fan. Ideally you use a dual fan or a 2-speed single fan setup so it can account for the A/C system with its own thermostat so you can dial in the turn on temperatures depending on climate and whatever else.
