Hello.
I was having some issues with engine starting. When i pulled shifter in and up it would start....after my shift linkage gave out and i replaced it i noticed some wires near the shifter were frayed and barley connected. I tried to solder it together and it seemed to be working fine but recently it’s doing the same thing. I have the column cover off so when it wont start i jiggle that connector and it starts right up.
I’ve enclosed pic of the part. Does anyone know if this is replacable or if even this is the problem?
Thanks for your guidance and help.
Michael

Common problem on getting-up-there-in-mileage column shifter trucks. Usually the manual shift wire frays first.

I can't remember who on here has posted the better fixes. Someone likely to chime in. I need to get ahead of this problem on mine. (I can manually downshift, but not up). Been thinking of just doing the center console swap anyway...
