I apologize if this has been touched on before. Honestly I'm quite sure it has, but I couldn't find anything that quite matched my situation.

Alright so I finally took the plunge and bought some JBA long tubes. I feel like I got a steal of a deal, possibly due to an error with the vendor, but I digress.

Now that I have headers on the way, I'm looking at completing the exhaust mods with the bpipes/UQ reso/Uprev combo. That being said, is there truly any reason to go for the catted pipes over the catless, aside from emissions? I'm military, and am a permanent resident of Michigan, who has no emissions testing. As long as I register/plate my vehicle in Michigan, regardless of what state I'm currently stationed in, am I correct in assuming I wouldn't be subjected to any emissions tests?

To add on to the above question, I'm assuming as long as I get Uprev, the CEL would be a non-issue as well even with catless?

In all honesty, if I can get more power (even if ever so slightly), and spend less money, I figure I may as well go catless.

Thanks ahead of time for any comments/advice. Can't wait to finally get tuned! Cajun, if you're out there, I'll probably be in touch before too long to purchase Uprev at the very least.

If you have emissions to pass you need catted bpipes and Uprev to correct the tune. You can run catless and Uprev can turn off the rear sensors to prevent a light but the truck will not pass emissions. The cats I use are highflow and will not kill performance so I recommend those to prevent smelly exhaust. Stock bpipes will kill any gain from the headers so prepare for bpipes and Uprev if you want gains. Muffler choice is critical with headers so do your research there or you can go through $$$ trying to get the right muffler.

Like Jeff said. I think as long as you plate/register your vehicle with a non-emission state/county you don't have to go through them. I know around Nashville in Davidson county you need emissions testing.

Oh yeah, I definitely plan on getting the whole setup. I may have to wait until tax returns for uprev, but I'd rather not half arse these mods.

Right now I'm running a full 304ss MBRP Pro Series catback. I haven't seen or heard any reviews on this one on titan forums, but honestly I absolutely love it. The sound is great, and it was definitely noticeable on install. Everyone raves about Borla (they are good, no doubt), but this setup has been great to me so far so I really have no plans to change it.

So in your honest opinion, if emissions testing are of no concern, is there any reason to roll with the catted instead of the catless? The power difference would be negligible, since they are high flow cats?

I believe Corky and steve at PRT on his dyno tested both set ups catted an catless with little to no difference.
With no emissions testing, I myself would go catless or resonated. It all depends on sound, so if your exhaust is loud now it's going to be ridiculous with catless, resonated definitely tames it down with less CIS as well.

Since you're active duty you can keep your vehicle registered at your home of record indefinitely and be only subject to that state's emissions requirements, regardless where you are stationed.

I personally like catless because #1 they're cheaper and who doesn't like saving money, and second it eliminates a piece of the exhaust system that can someday possibly wear out or fail.

It is fun setting off neighbor's car alarms as you drive by... until they catch you and yell at you.

Great answers and advice, thanks guys!

Sorry for the continued questions, as it seems like each answer kind of raises another one.

Kind of an opinionative question but as far as going catless, and the noise, will the volume/CIS/drone be manageable as long as I have the UQ reso installed (between the muffler and the tip, I believe I was told)? I don't want it freakishly loud just putting around town or through my apartment complex, as I find that pretty obnoxious, but I sure do love the sound of this engine...so when I'm WOT, or close to it, I'm looking for it to roar.

Haha! I did manage to set one off once with my current setup in a parking garage. Not going to lie, I did have a pretty stupid grin on my face afterwards.

I have to pass emissions in Texas however it is just scanned off of the OBD2, I have headers and dummy cats (incase they look) My secondary O2 sensors are in a raised bung so they are not in the direct flow of the exhaust I do not throw codes.

EDIT: supercharged and not UPREV tuned yet.

The ultra quiet in the tail pipe will help the drone/CIS an maybe tone the loudness down a bit. But I think it mostly helps with the CIS an drone.
Worst case is its too loud down the road an you either add resos to your Bpipes or stuff another ultra quiet if possible somewhere lmao

I am running JBAs, UpRev etc with the high flow cats and ran it a week with out the UQ and even with cats it was stupid loud! haha I did love it but it was too much for me. It was NASCAR loud! I was pretty certain I'd cut in a UQ but wanted to hear and drive it some without. I quickly ordered the UQ. It cuts drone, CIS and overall loudness quite a bit. The truck is loud upon start up to the point where I scare people that are nearby. It's fun to start it with the remote start from a distance! haha Normal cruising its fine but like you said and want when I stomp on it it friggin ROARS!!!

It's not too loud if you have a JBA catback. The drone is killing me though... 1600-2000 RPM's vibrates my teeth. I'm just too lazy to order an UQ from Jeff.

Jeff posted a bunch of videos on headers and catback systems with/without the UQ.
