Help Please, My 2006 Titan le just started dieing and has had 5 episodes of dieing while driving around 30-45 mph and at stop lights. Upon restart the engine seems to be hitting on 1 or 2 cylinders and the lights on the dash are flashing irratically. Turning it off and restarting the engine runs fine until it dies again.. It has been in to d3ealer and they found nothing wrong. Has this been encountered by anyone else other than shane06?

Dealer service rep is now driving it to and from his home to see if he can get it to do it while he is driving it.

Don't think I've heard of this one before. Don't think the MAF would cause a misfire. Probably a ECU problem. But honestly I'm not sure....

I had an Evinrude outboard that did that once - it was the ECU.

My dealer where I bought my Titan found the same problem on another Titan just before Thanksgiving. The replacement of the IPDM module solved that vehicles problem. The dealer where my trucik is being worked on is in Hurst Texas and they independently confirmed they found the problem to be the IPDM module that has malfunctioned and have ordered the replacement unit.
They discovered the problem by testing voltages going into the unit and those coming out to be irratic and different and even non existent on somne circuits intermittently. Possibly a Bad batch of IPDM units they said were from manufacturer. Don't know it it cured my problem but am going to bet it will. If your dealer needs info it is now posted on Nissan's tech line.....

Hmm...I had this same problem and my 2004 Titan was at the dealer for 16 days! They never could find anything and I finally went and picked it up from them a couple days ago. They mentioned that they thought it MAY be the ECU or the IPDM, but they refused to replace them under warranty unless the truck died on them, and after 16 days of driving it they couldn't get it to duplicate. It did it to me 2 times in a 3 day period before I took it in. Both times I was driving at low speeds and the truck just completely died.

Anybody know how much those parts cost? Maybe I can just get them replaced myself instead of dealing with the dealer. It sucks if I have a warranty and end up having to replace the stuff myself, but I'd rather keep my Titan than have to get rid of it cause I can't get it fixed.

Hmmm.
I grew up in an old school car repair, and worked there up until we closed the doors late last spring.
My old boss called me a few months ago and asked if I knew anything about the Nissans quitting out like this. He said there was supposed to be some huge azz recall.
I read the threads.
I see these posts.
I haven't heard anything else about a solution, but boss man was concerned that there might be a problem out there. I am too.

BTW: He loved/hated the Nissans because they were so good. Basically forced the old school shops out of business.
He retired and is going fishing this weekend.
I am working on a motor that should have been in that shop, without the shop.
Go figure.

Well, my dealer said they'd never heard of the problem. I called 2 other dealerships and they were stumped as well. I even called Nissan and finally got to some regional rep and he'd supposedly never heard of it either. But then I've searched these forums and it seems to be a very common problem with only one somewhat similar solution and that is the IPDM. But that was only on like 2 or 3 of the threads. There were many more with no posted solution and countless guesses as to what it was. I even did a Google search and founds lots of other message boards with Pathfinders and Maxima's doing similar things.

You're right...sounds like Nissan has a bit of a problem with this and isn't doing much about it.

replaced my IPDM first week of January and have not had a problem since.
It cost $126 and took 10 minutes to repalce it in the dealer parking lot. Requires one small flat head screw driver to help with depressing the tabs on the connectors. This is all plug and play. The new IPDM comes with all fuses and relays installed. Mine got so bad it died every 5 miles or so, that's why I changed it out at the dealer. they came out and asked me not work on my truck and I told them would they rather me do this or call a wrecker, which do you think the cutomers would be the most curious about?? They left me alone.

OR next time is wiggs out call the dealership and have them send a wrecker and tech to verify the problem but you will have to leave the ignition on.

Yes it is a dealer part only, so far.

I paid $123.77 before Tax.

That part will only be covered for the 3/36,000 warranty.

FYI the dealer cannot replace parts on your vehicle unless they can duplicate the concern, they are inline with procedure there. Also, be sure it is the IPDM/ER before replacing it, Titan can have other no start/intermittent start issues caused by grounds, crank sensor, fuel pump, etc... No need to waste money.

That's true. The dealer said they ruled out the fuel pump just because of when I was having the problems. Of course, my problem is not a "no start/intermittent start" problem...it's a completely die when I'm driving problem. But either way, it's worrying me enough to be willing to spend a little money to see if that's the problem. I've found 3 or 4 other threads here where people described the almost exact problems I was having and changing the IPDM seemed to be the solution every time.
