Seems like I have a truck with a mind of it's own. Not a huge deal but getting frustrating! My ethanol % will swing from 5% all the way to 50%. I'm running shell 93 gas. I always run good stuff to try and keep the % down. As you FFV guys know, the eth % determines AFR's. If I'm on 5% my afr's are perfect. If I'm on 50% my afr's are pig rich at mid 11's or slightly lower. Anyone know where the DAM# ethanol % is being read from? Front o2's? gas tank? Getting frustrated not being able to stabilize it! Anyone else having issues like this?

How do you read your ethanol %? The most allowed is 10% until it jumps to 15% soon. There are gas stations that are ethanol free.

sent from here
The ECU in ffv trucks read the eth%. I can read the level with cipher. Trying to figure out how the truck determines this. NO way I have 50% ethanol in my tank. It's reading it from somewhere that's giving it high readings.

Sounds about right^^ I need to figure out why mine jumps around so dang much. Mine has went from 65% to 5% on same tank within 2 miles of startup. If I start the truck and it's on 50% it will adjust itself within 3 or 4 miles everytime. I wish I would have bought a non ffv truck.

If the piece is what I am thinking it its, its not a terribly expensive piece to buy, just labor intensive because you have to drop the tank. Was your truck one of the ones that had the fuel sending unit recall??
According to the dealer it wasn't. Got in the truck tonight after dinner and the eth% was on 16%. Drove not even a mile and it went to 55%. Had my wife adjust it to 0% and it stayed there the rest of the way home which is 10 miles. I need to keep taking it to 0% and see if I can train that stupid Biznitch!

I would think if I had a bad flex fuel sensor that I would have thrown a code by now.

Got a new Rom last night from Ben, adjusted my fuel comp.table. Drove today with ethanol between 0 & 8.5% all day! So happy!

I can't even mess with any of that on my Cipher, is that a Tuner version only feature... I mean I can't do cylinder power test, Tune car, ignition timing, etc... Not that its all important, since Ben tunes my T and he can read over all that... just curious if I would need an updated key code to get those, or if those are strictly for the tuner package?
You should have most of those. If your an FFV you should have the ethanol option.

PS: Damn ethanol went to 63% tonight!! Getting so pissed at my truck!! Going to the track saturday, last thing I need is pig rich AFRS. I'll just manually set ethanol to 0% I guess.
