Exhaust...Any input???

1140 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  CzechRacingTeam
so the Titan decided it was time to shed the tail pipe. Got home today, and the tail pipe was being held up by the axle, rusted off just behind the muffler. I know it's not uncommon.

Anyway, I look at it as time to upgrade...I don't have a lot to throw at it money wise. So I was thinking of getting a flowmaster catback 40 series muffler. Any Ideas on this? Anyone have this set up? Happy...not happy with it? Would I be better off going just from the muffler back to save some cash? Any help or ideas would be great!!! Thank you in advance!

I recommend the stainless jba catback from autoanything $349 to the door. If you find it cheaper they will match the price. I lucked out and found one on ebay for $255 and they matched the price. Its easy to install and sounds great. You can haggle with them and maybe get more off.
Go with the best a BANKS!

Any audio on the jba catback? Any problems with it or anything?

How much are we talking for the banks?

Thanks for the options guys!!!
Search sound clips on you tube and you can hear some on titan trucks. I have stock manifolds and mine is just a little louder than stock at idle and hwy speed. When your on the gas it is louder but not too loud. Has a deep mellow tone with little drone in cab. Install was easy and the jba is very nice quality. I think the muffler is made by magnaflow for jba. Sure looks like it anyway.

PennTitan – Of course we’re a little biased, but our Titan kit sounds like the kit for you. It sounds great, increases power and torque over stock and it’s one of our 409S Stainless Steel kits that comes with a lifetime warranty!

Not to hate on flowmaster mufflers, but I will never run a chambered muffler. If you want better flow, why buy something that restricts it? Makes no sense to me. Just had my 2.25"-3" flowmaster Y-pipe to a 3" bullet put on, and wow. HUGE difference over stock. I love it.

Re: Exhaust...Any input...NISMO???

So, I checked out the Flowmaster 409s...looks like it's around $900 bucks...and the sound ain't bad. What would that cost to have installed??? If I'm going to pay $900 uninstalled...what do you guys think of the NISMO Exhaust...Did some research on the install and it looks pretty easy and def. something I could do on a Saturday...which means $1,000 installed. Never installed an exhaust system before so I don't know what the others consist of to get the job done.

Who's running the NISMO Exhaust...any problems? How is it in the cab...any drone to it? For that matter how bout the JBA, Banks or Flowmaster too....any drone there?

Thank you all again for the input and ideas.
The jba has a LITTLE drone at 1800 but not bad at all. When my truck goes into overdrive its gone and sounds stock. Noway I would spend $900 for the flowmaster. I would get a borla before the FM for that money.
Honestly, don't blow your money like that. My FM y, bullet, install dumped over the rear axle cost me 250 total. Maybe use a more expensive muffler, $300. Just as good as a catback system. Save your money!
I just installed the Banks kit on my 08 crew cab long bed and for sure there is some loud drone in the cab at about 1700 to 1900 rpms.
I would like nothing more then to kill the drone in the cab and maintain the deep crisp exhaust sound the set up produces. Any recommendations? I had seen some are using resonators.
