Good question. When I bought one for my Toyota, their window was the 3 year/36K mile bumper-to-bumper period.....as long as that hadn't expired, then you could purchase the Toyota Extended Warranty. I wonder if this is the same for Nissan's?
yes that is correct

Yep, you can buy anytime within the warranty period. I never received any info from anyone though so I'm still looking for the best price.

Cool, well I'll get in there sometime when I'm due for service I buy one. That will probably help with resell as well if I decide to upgrade after the original warranty expires.
Thanks

I'm negotiating the deal on my Titan still and plan on getting the Gold/Preferred 7 year. If you are interested, I can mention to the guy I'm dealing with that there are others like you Karl that want to buy the Extended Warranty and if he's willing to give the best price, I can send you his way. It's worth a shot. It's the old "sell one at a big profit or sell a lot at a small profit but make more in total on volume" rule.

Sounds great to me Memphis. I'm looking at the 72month/100k Gold plan and the best price I've found is around $1,500, while a few others seemed to have paid around $750-800 for it.

Do yourselfs a favor....take the money you would spend on the warranty and put it in savings or seperate account. If you never have problems....you have the money for something else. If you do then you, then use the money. Any extended warranty is a calculated gamble and usually the dealer or manufacturer wins.

No doubt it's a gamble but one that I'm willing to take for around $800 to have virtually everything covered (including rental) for 6 years or 100k miles. It's all about what makes you comfortable though...if you're comfortable without one, great!

Karl: I plan to do more dealing over the weekend and I'll get back with you on what he says.

alm: You make a valide point, however, I keep my vehicles for a long time....I average about 10 years per vehicle. I have found that the Ext Warranty is good for me because outside of the 3/36 bumper-2-bumper warranty, the costs of repairs exceeds the cost of the Ext-Warranty. For example, I owned a Toyota 4-Runner, which has great reliability...however, some things did occur.....for me the extended warranty ended up paying for itself many times over. I plan on keeping the Titan for at least 7 years and want to have that additional protection because things do happen.

Warranty Cost

Just got a LE Crew 4x4 with everything but NAV and off-road. Wanted the Gold preferred warranty for 84/100,000 $50.00 deduct. Called three local dealers prior to purchase and got three prices ranging from 1,800 to 1,300. I then made this a part of the deal for the truck. I've done this both times I've purchased Nissans and both times the sales manager fed me a line of crap about the finance dept taking care of that. My response to him was "If you want this deal then sell my offer to the finance guy. I'm not here to be jerked around and I already know a dealership that will give it to me at 1,300". Both times they seen the light and made the deal. I bought one of these for a 2000 4x4 Dakota after the purchase and got stiffed royally at 1,800 for 60/100,000 and $100.00 deduct. Strike while the iron is hot and make it a part of the deal up front.

I saw the post anout warranty direct--anyone have anymore information on them??
I'm looking it over right now and will probably go with them. I called the dealership and told them I didn't want to buy their warranty (7/75) for $2500 and they didn't even try to sell it for less. :readclose
