Ok guys I have been wondering this for a few years now ever since the TT eco boost was first advertising for the new taurus. They were advertising the car with 365hp and 25ish mpg and clamining how wonderful it was that a v6 could get v8hp and retain v6 sedan gas mileage. And now we are seeing a "car" engine put into a truck and everyone drueling over it? I thought about writing this post b/c I read last night at work I read where dodge had a new v6 they were planning on putting into most of there vehicle lines and get rid of that trash 3.7L thats in my wifes moms liberty that is just a redesign of the old 3.9L that was in my POS dakota. Anyways they are talking of twin turboing this new Pentastar v6 DigitalCarGuy.com | Thomas Ieracitano Your DigitalCarGuy | Internet Sales and Marketing to keep up with the joneses(FORD).
I can see how a TT ranger/dakata/colrado sport truck would be cool but it seems wierd to put a car motor into a truck ment for hauling, pulling... So I guess the economy shut out the dreams for half ton diesel trucks which is why I'm not driving one atm, I don't need or can justify a 3/4ton personally. Unlike someone I know who bought a cummins for hauling off the trash in, after owning a half ton for years and never sliding a reciever in it he buys a oil burner ment for 12K-15K. To each their own and not meaning to write a book but the whole purpose of this post was to ask a certain question.
What about the new eco boost is so much more "technologically advanced" than the 3.0TT nissan motor thats sitting on my porch that gets 25mpg in the Z and makes 310hp bone stock? Toyota also had a motor about the same mpg and hp in the turbo supra. Ford gets all this credit for putting a motor of the similar fashion into a tarus & half ton. 21 years later! and they gain 30-40hp?:clap::clap:
These motors were made in 1990 and put into these cars when detroit was making "fox bodys","Trans ams/cameros" making near the same hp with less mpg.
So when I hear all these people drueling over this "new" idea of TTing a motor excuse me for not getting hard in the pants. Seems to me like 21 years of R&D someone would come up with something a little better than this "new" idea that will be the upcomming thing for the big 3 to do to their half tons to make people run out and buy them.
