I just purchased my Titan last week. When I show it off to freinds/family I say "and check out this storage box" then I have a heck of a time opening it. Does anyone else have a hard time opening their box? I think it would be a great place to store the utility bed cleats and maybe a rope or some tie downs, but it is a pita to open. Maybe it just needs to be broken in?

By the way, what is everbody else storing in the fender box?

I leave the cleats on the rails at the 4 corners of the utility track system where they belong and are useful and look good.
I store a 30' nylon tow strap coiled up in the upper tray and some gloves..nothing to rattle around in the fender-box.
Was thinking of jumper cables wrapped up in a plastic bag but haven't done that yet...you might get some water in there.
There was a post here on adjusting the lock tension on your fender/box.
Good luck......did you find the engine hood light yet????

And by the way..only push on the lock when closing not the painted area or it will dent easily...like the hood..and the roof!

I don't have a problem opening it - I store the utilitrack cleats there along with my tiedown straps - I haven't had a problem with it denting, but nonetheless be careful

Mine opens easily, you might want to adjust it or have it adjusted.
I store a couple of ratchet straps and a length of rope in mine.

It's CLOSING it where I have a problem!
There is no handle except for your key in the lock to open it, but to close I have to keep slamming it to eventually shut.
Anyone else has this problem? Is there an easier way?

Saturday Night Live had a parody of Bush and Gore from the 2000 election and the comedian impersonating Gore kept referring to a "secret lock box" during the debate. So, I call this my "secret lock box". Of course I can't divulge the contents or it wouldn't be a secret. Lets just say that in the event of a national emergency, I will divulge the contents of the "lock box".

ive actually adjusted mine. there is two "screws" on the inside part that allow for some adjustment. i didnt notice much difference though. still not easy to open and/or close. also, like what was mentioned before, only use the plastic handle part to push closed. otherwise, you will dent it. i dented mine by pushing on the painted part. suck.

When i first got my titan my storage box was doing the same thing, it would shutt
fine but it was a mother to open. The dealership tried to work on it by moving the striker and they couldnt fix it. The problem with mine was in the locking mechinism itself
as you turn the key it doesnt activate the lock. i took mine apart and adjusted it and it works fine now.

Remove the key when you are going to close it..so you can push on the black lever...and it has always worked for me.so far!!
