Hey I drive a 2008 King Cab 4WD, I wanna replace the filter box with a K&N filter. I don't want the hassle of changing out the pipe, so was wondering if I could just cut the box off and fit the cone filter. any help?

That sounds like a bad idea to me I wouldn't do that to a daily driver, air box mod or buy a actual cold air intake. I have done both to mine about same butt dyno feel but cold air sounds way more aggressive.

Just buy a K&N drop-in filter to go in your stock air box that would be your best bet.
