So there has been some talk on here about the 2017 Titan's 2.937 rear gear ratio and whether or not it is good/bad or sufficient for towing with the new 7 speed transmission. I thought it would be fun to compare it to the '15 Titan with 3.357 rear gear and its 5 speed and the Tundra's 4.30 gearing paired with its 6 speed transmission. Below are the final gear ratios
1).
Gear Toyota / '17 Titan / '15 Titan (with 3.357)
1st 14.319 / 14.350 / 12.847
2nd 8.428 / 9.307 / 7.949
3rd 5.805 / 5.953 / 5.103
4th 4.300 / 4.144 / 3.357
5th 3.139 / 2.937 / 2.800
6th 2.537 / 2.538 / N/A
7th N/A / 2.273 / N/A
Reverse 13.158 / 11.868 / 8.771
Final Crawl Ratio 37.802 / 38.989 / 33.35
