After much hesitation and uncertainty amidst the plethora of aftermarket exhaust systems and setup to choose from, I went CHEAP & SIMPLE - Flowmaster Scavenging Y-Collector (Y214300) to Borla XR-1 (40943) Racing muffler to stock tailpipe (sans tip), dumped at factory hanger.
Total cost with welded installation = $230.96.
SOUND: The tone is pure music to my ears - deep and throaty, yet refined (not tinny like Flowmaster), with NO rasp or CIS, and absolutely ZERO drone thus far. It is not as loud at idle as I had hoped for, but under throttle it wakes up with a menacing growl...this muffler complements the AIRAID MPX nicely!! I only have 40-miles on the system, so perhaps it will get a bit louder at idle as I break it in.
PERFORMANCE: As far as any SOP improvement, there was no difference that I could feel. However, I didn't experience any loss in low-end torque either...and I know what THAT feels like, because that's exactly what happened when I put the aftermarket exhaust system on my 2010 SRT8 Charger.
All-in-all I am VERY pleased with my choice, and I can safely say it was worth every penny spent...then again, I've spent more on dinner. LOL
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
*NOTE* I know the welds aren't the prettiest you've ever seen, but the guy charged me a whopping fifty-bucks to put this together, so...
