Great info on her guys....

Actually i started with a '93 V6 Dakota, then a '02 Tundra, then a '06 Ridgeline and now I have a '04 Titan.... The tundra was nice, loved it. The RL was great, lots of bells and wistles. The Titan is awesome!!!! Now I got my man card back!!!!!

I wanted to know if there are specific mods I can do with the 04???? Right now it stock but i have a close relationship with the guys at Dastek (South Africa) the makers of Unichip and especially with Nissans and the Infinity engins seen some remarkable gains but this will cost me $500 - $700. What would be nice easy cheap mods that i can start with?

I am about to move my sound system out of the Ridgeline into the Titan...

Kenwood DNX 9980HD
Rockford 600.5A amp
Rockford 6.5 Mids
Pioneer 10" shallow sub
Kenwood CMOS 300 Backup camera

So that will keep me occupied while we figure out what mods to get the 305 HP to the current 317HP.... LOL

Welcome!

First thing - Gut the rear cats Gut the rear cats Gut the rear cats Gut the rear cats

Then... CAI, exhaust, and tuner. That's all I have done for performance, and I love it... :)
Great thats what I thought to but I have questions regarding the cats. I have only had my truck for 4 days now so I am not sure what the cat situation is under the truck but removing the cats, does that give you any CEL's or error codes and will the truck still pass emmisions also are there any sensors in the rear cats and does the 2004 even have rear cats????

Sorry lots of questions but I'm still a noob!!!

I am getting my flowmaster 50 series next week and I am looking at a volant CAI. Which would you guys recommend???

If you gut the rear cats you will not throw codes because there are no O2 sensors after them. Visually, it looks stock so you're good to go there. As for FM 40's or 50's, they are not the best for performance, but if you're in it for sound and not speed then pick whatever exhaust setup you like best.

IMO, if you follow my suggestions, your performance will skyrocket compared to where you are right now.
Ok Just to not confuse me any further...LOL (I am South African) we ger confused quick...

I have in mind the following and this plan will prob be complete withing a week or 2.

1) Volant CAI
2) FM 50 series Muffler
3) Gut Rear cats

What would you recommend for performance other than what i have listed here?

Here I fixed your list^^^ If you want performance than stay away from baffled muffler like flowmasters. Borla/maganaflow/Dynomax Bullet etc are all flow through and will net you the best performance. Of course Im biased toward Borla since thats what I have on my Titan and Mustang. Oh yeah and a Bully Dog Triple GT tuner would make your truck feel like a new truck by getting rid of the WOT restriction and different throttle sensitivity options.
Any specific Borla Muffler you would recommend??? Oh and the BD GT tuners there seem to be a few different ones. Exactly what GT tuner? They range from $200 - $500

The part number is 40410. Bully Dog Triple Dog GT tuner.

I think you have your in/ out dimensions backwards. You want the smaller diameter piping going into the muffler from your header side and bigger diameter going to the tail pipe or dump.
I checked the website again and it listed this muffler as a single 3" in and a dual 2.25" out. thats tecknically larger than the in right?

I just saw that your truck is an 04. the Bully Dog website doesnt have anything listed for 04s so before you go buying one, call them and ask if it will wor for you or do some more research here around the forum. Im sure it has been answered but I cant remember what the answer is. Also you might want to swap out your Y pipe to a flow master Y pipe. That will give your truck a bit more pull and isnt expensive. Take a look up under your truck and plan out how you want your exhaust to be set up along with the recommendations from this site. Search around and you will find tons of different exhaust combinations that people have tested and see if you like one.
All these mods are sooo overwhelming....

My truck is going in to Meineke tomorrow to have a rear wheel bering seal replaced and the muffler and exhaust mods will be done then. So I am running out of time a little and thought it would be easier to just ask streight out "what to do"

I have gotton a ton of good info already and just hope the Borla muffler (1x3" inlet and 2x2.25" outlet) and going from a single out to a dual out will hinder performance though.

I also orgered the Volant CAI and should be here Friday or early next week.

So what I have in mind now and what I have ordered parts for is as follows.

I ordered a Flowmaster "Y" pipe thats a 2.25 Primary and 3" final I'll thake the 3" pipe to the muffler which is a Borla single 3" in and dual 2.25" out and I will have 2x2.25" tail piles exit behind the wheel. Then I should be fitting my Volant CAI next week.

Does that sound like I will gain a little bit of power or does it sound like a low end torque killer?

OPk i will start at the secondary cats. From the rear cats I'm planing on going with 2.25" pipe into the 2.25" Y collector I got today then the Y collector out is a 3" diameter. 3" pipe all the way to the borla muffler which is a 3" single in and a dual 2.5" out. Does that makes sence?

Would you guys happen to know what this will do for performance and low end torque? And how will it sound?

Ah Ok I see what you mean. I looked to see if I could reorder the Y collector but they only have 2"-2.5" or 2.25-3" so What I'll do is just have the shop modify the Y I have to run into a 2.5" right after the collector into the muffler.

I thought the dual 2.5" outs on the muffler sufficed as a 5" out??? No?

So listining to what you guys have to say, at the end of the day this is what it should look like.

2.25" out of cats into Y
3" Y out immediatly into a 2.5" straight to the muffler (I will have them cut the 3" Y shorter to have the 2.5" start sooner)
2.5" into the 3" muffler with the 2 x 2.5" tailpipes out.

I really do like the duals better than the single out. Should I change the muffler from a single 2.5"in and s single 3" out should I just get this one??

Or tell me what I should buy is it ok to have the 3" col run into a 2.5" pipe and the 2.5" pipe into a 3" muffler???

First off guys. Sorry for all the confusion and thank you so much for all your feedback and good humor. I finalyy got my truck back Saturday morning. i tas in the shop to replace the rear diffirential wheel seals (or what ever you call them, the seals that keeps the diff oil from running out the side of the shaft) the brake shoes replaced as well as the pads and rotors.

So it was during this time that I wanted to do the exhaust mods too and here is what I ended up buying.

1) Flowmaster 2 x 2.25" to 3" Y collector
2) Borla Turbo XL single in dual out
3) Volant CAI

I got the Y col and the exhaust work done and OMG it sounded awesome. It was still pretty quiet though. Apart from sounding more burly I dont think it was any louder than the stock one but it was "throaghtier"

I got my truck from Meineke, drove it home and was generally pleased! I got right to work installing the CAI, I lost the instructions and it took me about 30 minutes to install and that included cleaning the throttle body.

Now let me tell you.... OMG!!!! That CAI multiplied the exhaust noise probably tripple fold and it sounds awesome!!!!

Before I did these mods I could get the rear wheels to break loose off the line by just mashing the throttle and I kinda liked it. (I have GoodYear Wrangler Pro Grade Silent Armor tires on the truck that is brand new) Now that the mods are done I cannot get the wheels to break loose at all so i am pretty sure I lost a little low end torque but I also think I gained a lot more ar higher RPM's. Th noise is really beautiful and not too loud at all. When I hit about 2600RPM's it really opens up and almost feels like a little jump in power (kinda like VVT engaging in the 2005 XRS Corolla) 2600 RPM to 3000 RPM's is a little loud buy it still makes my pants suddenly feel smaller.... (-:

The ECU must have made some adjustments already for it feels smoother throught the RPM range and a tad stronger of the line.

I wil lneed to do something else with these videos they are too large to attach. let me see if I can post them to youtube and post links.

Thanks for the vids man. Im glad you are happy with the set up. Now get yourself a programer or UpRev and you will def be able to spin your tires with ease.
x2 on getting a handheld. it'll really make a difference. that exhaust sounds great though.
What does the UpRev do and which one is better (Cipher or Osiris) How does these things work and what do thet change. Fuel\air, or timing?

Congrats!!! Your gong to love it!

Since you have an '04 you will get to choose 3 maps.

Did you fill out the order form that asks you what details you want for each map?
Yea I did but I wasnt sure what to put so map 1 I made 91 oct, rev lim at 6200 RPM and speed limiter at 160 MPH and idle speed at 750 RPM

Map 2 was Valet with rev limiter at 2500RPM and speed limiter at 60 MPH

Map 3 was stock

I will try that out for now.

My 2 friends that still live her in boulder CO just challanged me to a race. (-:
When I still had the 02 tundra they asked too but I didnt want to now that I have the titan I am sure I will pull ahead of both 2007 F150 and 2002 Chevy 2500. The ford has intake and exhaust and the chevy has intake exhaust and edge chip I think. I rode in the diesel and I am sure even with the tundra it would have been very close, The titan on the other hand might just embaris him.... :)

I will have to race him again after I get my UpRev.

Ok Guys, so I just flashed my ECU with one of the 2 maps they sent me. map 1 was a "Back to stock" and map 2, I assume was my custom map. It had my name in the title as suppose to "Back to stock"

As of now i am a little dissapointed. I cannot feel any differance at all and the WOT restriction is still there. Everyone keeps talking about maps 1 2 and 3 and how doe I swith between them???

Am I missing something??? Where do i go from here? Do I need to log some data for a while and send it to UpRev for them to tweak before I will see a differance????

Copied from a post by BMF'n_Titan (the search feature is your friend):
Using the Cruise Control Buttons...
-Hold the set/coast toggle down
-Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...
-Then release the set/coast toggle.
-When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...

Should work exactly as above......the 2004 Titan is only good for 3 maps the rest can hold 5
yea after i posted this I found it. I am worried I just threw $500 in the water. No power gain sofar. ill log some data and see what is to do.
