There has been lots of talk here about the center console. I think that it opens properly for the driver. I think it would be clumsy to have it open from the front. I only have a passenger less than 10% of the time so their access to MY compartment is not a concern.

I don't think the thing you're talking about with the grille opening is a "design problem". First of all, there is no "perfectly designed vehicle". Secondly, Nissan isn't liable for people who drive on gravel roads. That can be solved with aftermarket procedures. But I do understand it being a concern for some people....
My wife was sayig the same thing about the center console. I think that since the DVD player is in there, it would make more sense for the passenger to be able to manage the process of changing the DVD while the driver does the driving. It is difficult for her to reach into the space without taking off her seatbelt and leaning over the console to reach in.
Yes, the tailgate is heavy. I think it could have been couterbalanced, but expect that to be something handled in future models.

Get the bench seat/column shift option. It has a center armrest thingy that folds down and opens rearward. I meant to say, that although he has a point about the center console, it would be impossible for rear seat passengers to open the center console if it were hinged at the back. I can't comment on the grill or tailgate issues since I don't have a Titan (yet 
).
But the center console I may be able to comment on. My previous vehicle had a center console hinged on the right side. My current vehicle has one hinge on the back. Hinged on the right side is great - very easy access for the driver and that's what counts. Hinged on the back is a huge pain in the ***. In order to open my center console, I have to turn the knob on the front, lift it, and flip it rearward while raising my arm up (high) to clear it. What a terrible design.

Well, normally it is going to be a front seat passenger needing access to the center console more often than back seat passengers. Rumaging through a bunch of stuff in that big console is probably not a great idea for the driver to be doing if the passenger can do it instead. As mentioned, that's not feasible with the current design, unless the passenger takes off their seat belt and leans way over.
And if Nissan didn't design their new truck for use on gravel roads, I can perhaps understand why many uninformed fans of the Big 3 do not consider the Titan to be real work truck. And anyone who drives where they sand highways in winter know that you don't need to be driving on gravel to have rocks thrown up at you. Some kind of lower grill protection is essential for me.

Holey Crap, if the roads are going ot destroy your fan blades, what is your paint going to look like? The best way for the console to be hinged is like Nissan has it-for the driver's use first and rear passengers second. The driver needs easy access when he gets in the truck before he starts driving and after he stops. I put a full size folio in mine and I can't imagine having to reach over the top every time I need to use it. If the front passenger needs in the console, he is the one that needs to be in a contorted position, not the driver,whether he is driving or not. The @#^%! passenger didn't buy the Titan, I did. Let him "deal with it".
I defintely agree the tailgate needs to be counter-balanced. That was about the only thing I perferred on the f150. The titan bed almost broke my wifes hand when she wasn't paying attention to the weight
