The center console lid opens sideways making it very difficult for the front seat passenger to reach in. A simple fix would be to have the lid open backward like in most vehicles.

Get the bench seat/column shift option. It has a center armrest thingy that folds down and opens rearward. I drove a bucket seat version and couldn't give up all the room that center shifter console uses up.
