I haven't had the tranny flushed on my Titan yet, but have had it done on many other vehicles. There shouldn't be any problems, and you won't have to return for anything.

Most dealerships these days use "additives" to clean out the system during the flush, so that helps with any loose debris issues during flush. They will raise the truck and run it while running the additives as well to clean the system. If you do your full flush this time, you can probably get by with a drain and fill from now on w/ regular maint. My dealer runs the chemicals through on my drain and fill, so i shouldnt have to do the full flush for a while.

I just did the flush based on a couple of conditions. See that they have an experienced tech do it and not some rookie. At my dealer they use a different machine for each type so there were no cross contamination issues. The tech that did mine has not seen a problem flushing in 16 years. For the extra 100 I did a full flush which I will most likely do every 20000 from now on but I don't drive many miles and I drive it like it was rented, lol.

Flushing always scared me. I have had problems in the past and I have had friends that have had problems after a flush. I made a call to another Nissan dealer to discuss the subject of flushing the tranny. Turns out Nissan doesn't recommend it. They sent out a bulletin on Dec. 10, 2007 to the service departments advising against it. I think I am going to skip the flush and have a replace done instead.

See attached.

I work at a Dealership & we do Tranny flush,
Drain & Refill at 30k & Flush at 60k.
We use only J-matic ( no additives ) in the flush that exchanges old fluid for new..
Can use amsoil - I have done @ 5 amsoil flushes with no problem..
I have just talked to a Factory Rep about this Bulliten & He said only add the J-matic.

My fluid came out brownish red and after the flush it was like a different tranny. I have my doubts if the regular maintenance of drain and fill would would be sufficient for my driving style. after feeling the difference and seeing the fluid color, I will most likely continue to flush but if not I would do a drain and fill every 10000 to keep the performance up to snuff for my drag racing. Good luck with it man.

I would trust the dealership, but not any of the jiffy lube type oil change places. I would not want any type of cleaners left in my tranny either.

I just had the BG Flush at the Nissan Dealer in Wilmington NC, for $159.00. It carries a 150,000K Warranty if you do it every 30K, which I will. I'll go read that PDF now, interesting post...

Read it now...

So who do I trust??? I had it done here in NC, as I was on vacation and it was convenient, but my regular dealer does the same BG Flush, not a Nisssan J Matic Flush. I am not going to worry about it, as I'm confident that the BG is compatible, or Dealers wouldn't be using it. But gee willikers, can't they come to agreement on this issue! ...

How can Nissan deny warranty if they don't offer J Matic Flush?

Flushing is the only way to get every last ounce of fluid. drain and fill only gets around 5qts, we flush 16quarts through.

The dealer ended up doing the fluid flush/replacement without using the flush machine. The guy in charge of the Nissan service (The Place is a Nissan/Audi/VW Dealer) said he had not seen this letter since his service manager was gone on vacation and hadn't passed on the info to him.

He said they will no longer use the flush machine on Titans after reading the letter issued by Nissan.

They ended up doing the flush/replacement as described in the service manual, which involves removing the coolant line and pouring new fluid into the charging line until it comes out of the cooler line the same color.

The procedure from the service manual was posted before.
