Fog lights, are they pre-wired on an SE?

20420 Views 28 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  BillFord12
I have an SE 2006 Titan, and last night while changing the oil, I noticed there was an open connector dangling at each fog light (I don't have fog lights).

Does this mean I am pre-wired? if so, where's the switch wire, and where can I find a switch and fog light assemblies to mount into the holes, and where does the fog light switch mount...? :)

Thanks.

You can buy the OEM kit, which includes the lights and the switch. THe switch replaces your factory turn signal.
Yes the SE's are prewired, the switch is on the turn signal stalk, the kit comes with a replacement stalk which will have the switch on it. You can get the kit at your dealer, www.yournissanparts.com, or www.courtesyparts.com. The install is easy takes like 15 minutes.

thanks... this kit works with the factory wiring harness?

where to buy the kit, which includes the new turn signal switch, lights, etc.?

How do the lights mount?

I found another thread-- showed this connector, which happens to look just like the ones I saw, so I know I'm prewired for sure...

is this the part number on YourNissanParts.com?

Item Number: 999F1-YQ00X

It doesn't indicate if it comes with the turn signal switch.

How can I tell if I have automatic headlights? I don't recall if I do or not... I don't think I do as they should come on automatically, but that's assuming they are left in the "auto" position... which I don't know if I have that...
That is the correct part. I remember seeing them offered for $166 somewhere, might be this same place if you mention you're a CT member. Most dealers want around $200 for the kit. If you have Auto headlights, you'd probably know it.

Auto headlight equipped:
OFF
AUTO
Parking Lights ON
Headlights ON

Non equipped:
OFF
Parking Lights ON
Headlights ON

This image shows the stalk that is included in the kit, you can see that it is the AUTO equipped stalk if you look closely:

Thanks... didn't notice the switch in the SMALL pic they had.... hehe

I will order from YNP because I have dealt with them in the past and have had good experiences, even when DHL lost my package and credited my shipping back, YNP refunded the shipping with no hassle... oh, and for the CT discount :)

Yes... Looks like I don't have Auto... is the stalk black, like the picture? My current stalk is gray.
Just remember that if u do install the fogs, they will only go on WITH the headlights!
otherwise u have to do one of the infamous fog/running light mods! which of course you can find out about here... :)

i have fogs on mine, but i did the mod which allows for the fogs to run w the running lights only....

ack. im still kinda a newbie at posting links. but if u do a search for "fog light mods" or "running light/fogs" hopefully it'll pop up.

if that doesnt work, when i get home ill check into it more and see if i can help.
i know that BASEBALLFANZ for sure has the answers.

its a great mod. when its a rainy or cloudy day (gloomy/dark) i'll always have the fogs on w the running lights (NO HEADLIGHTS).....which u CAN NOT do with the stock fog wiring. and its a fairly simple mod to do.
ahh yes... the old fuse trick... I created a similar fuse patch for me and my bro's cars in the mid 1990's to do something cool ...
bad thing about that mod though-- if someone doesn't know about the patch and tries to change a fuse-- if you tie two fuses together, they now have to be plugged in a certain way...I'd put the jumper on the other side of the fuse block if there's room...

So with this mod, you don't need to change the steering wheel controls...
if they came factory installed, would they work by themselves, or do the headlights still have to be on?

and with the new steering wheel switch, is there a fog light switch too?
From the factory the foglights can only be on, when the headlights are on, their is a switch on the stalk to run just your headlights or yourheadlights with the foglights.
If the switch works without having to turn on the headlights (i.e. the stalk allows me to move it on/off), I might just rewire the fuse block to use a different power source instead of the headlight power source...

Hi again Energizer....

just to be clear.
STOCK = fogs only go on WITH the headlights. u have the option of headlights w fogs, or headlights w no fogs. the dealers usually wont do the mods for ya, but they will install the fogs for ya.

MODS = (theres a couple out there) i did the one BASEBALLFANZ so speedily posted. i found it to be the easiest cuz i didnt have to kill the stalk....hehe
just make sure you "blow" that one fuse.

like i said, i think the TITAN looks mean w the fogs and running lights running together, w/out the headlights.... :)

good luck and let us know if u need any help. and thanks BASEBALLFANZ for being omni-present... :)
but can you actually move the fog light switch even though the headlights are off? Actually move it, not caring if they come on or not, as I'd rewire that if I do decide to do it...
The foglight addition is a piece of cake.........unless you just want to have it wired for running lights and/or headlight use.
