How is your truck performing long term after going with JBA LTs? Im kind of at a cross roads. 04 2wd with only 78k miles. Pony up and do the headers or just sell and cut my losses.

the thing im confused about is the whole reason the manifolds crack in the first place. isnt it a design flaw and the engines running too hot? wouldnt you still have issues with head gaskets/engine running too hot down the road with these trucks? or does switching to headers/retuning fix this.

interested in how things have worked out for those who made the switch.

Defective design from Nissan. Hot/cold/hot/cold/hot/cold heat cycle and crack goes the header. The O2 sensors give bad readings to the ECU which thinks the truck is running lean so it adds in extra fuel which kills the catalytic converter. Then you're in a world of hurt.

Switching to long tube headers and uprev tuning completely removes the problem. How they should've come from the factory

45k miles on my headers and no issues whatsoever. They crack because of the heat build up in the cats giving bad hot/cold cycles like nightowl said. Headers don't have cats and they're stainless so no issues.

The cats are moved to the bpipes in the Cajun packages.

Right, just wanted to make mention that the headers do not have them while our OEM manifolds do, which is part of the problem with the OEM design.

I will chime in I am having cat efficiency issues the headers are not cracked so far but the drivers side cat has a burn hole in the top in process of changing to jba long tubes and catless b pipes stock muffler 244000 thousand miles

Are you the original owner or buy it used? Usually by that mileage 2-3 sets of manifolds go bad.

Mine have been in since about 2010... JBA LT's, Cajun catted B's and Nismo exhaust. The fuel mileage when I had the exhaust leak went down from a regular 12-13 MPG to about 10-11. It came right back up after the header install...

I also noticed about a 1-1.5 MPG pickup after I cleaned out the carbon buildup from the intake plenum. It wasn't really all that dirty, but it made a difference. :dunno:

But the biggest improvement was when I put the Level 10 transmission in. I had it installed, picked up the truck, and the very next day I headed South for the Gatlinburg meet. Checking fuel mileage on the trip, which for my moderately lifted 4x4 CC LE was about 18.5 on the highway (best I previously got), on one leg of the trip I fueled up, got right on the highway, drove for about 3 hours, got off and fueled up - It was 24 MPG. This was obviously a fluke of the truck computer and the transmission both trying to figure each other out. The ECU has since "relearned" how to hyper-suck fuel and the MPG is back down to just a bit higher than where it normally was. I get about 14 MPG around town and can get about 20 MPG on a highway trip.

The Cajun Titan averages 15.5 mpg and a personal hwy best of 21.1.
You must be 2WD? 4WD doesn't usually keep up with the fuel mileage of the 2WD Titans...
