I have a tri fold cover over the rear cargo box and the problem is that it freezes to the area where the tailgate contacts it in the up position and I cannot open the gate. It also freezes along the top sides where it contacts the rails and I cannot fold the cover. At the moment I just have left it open so that I can have access to the rear box. I have tried a silicon spray and that did not do anything. Is there a solution to this?

I have the same problem. Be cautious, I've had the tailgate thaw out and come down and drop the load after failing to get it open. I keep a garbage credit card to run between the cover and tailgate when I need to get it open.

Mine freezes too. I just learned to deal with it. My fix is to just lift up on the cover before opening the tailgate. Works well for me. The credit card trick would work too. One tip I have is don't pull to hard on the tailgate handle. I learned the hard way by snapping the plastic tabs securing the bib. Lol

i've tried sprays too but they don't do much. also tried some dielectric grease, did a better job but you get it on you if you lean up against the open tailgate. definitely helps a lot to keep it from freezing though. i also use a plastic putty knife, kinda like the credit card. also, sometimes if you bump the tailgate forward with your shoulder, you can sometimes break the hold of the ice allowing you to open the tailgate.

i also want to try some tire foam or armor all on it, see if that works better than wd-40 or the like. thinking maybe it would last longer.

Mine always freezes to the top of my tailgate but all I have ever had to do is tap the top of the tonneau cover where is sits on top of the tailgate with my fist and it has always broken the ice and allowed me to open it.
