Okay; Friend sold his Titan, and bought Chevy...(don't freak out, he had 142,000 on Titan, and needed 3/4 ton for oilfield work) Anyway, his Titan was an 05, mine is 06. He had a set of (identical to mine) six spoke SE wheels with BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A P275 65R18 tires with less than 3k miles. My Titan came with Goodyear Wrangler P265 70R18. He sold me the tires and wheels for $175, and it cost me $75 to get them mounted and balanced. I swapped wheels and tires at 6500 miles on my truck. My logic is I will now do my own tire rotation and save $40 every 5k miles. Yes, I will mark each tire as to location and keep a record of what came from where.

With original equip tires (P26570R18) I was getting 18+ mpg hwy, and 16-17 mpg city.
Have now made a 700 mile round trip, mostly interstate at 75 to 85 mph, and was astonished to be seeing 18.2 mpg every tank.

These two tires are almost identical but not exact tire specs below. What am I missing? Will this small difference impact my "perceived" gas mileage?
Am curious what the experts think.

Thanks
